    Hey All,

I'm putting a roll cage with buckets and harnesses in my truck and want to remove the side curtain airbags and front seatbelts. My concern is that with the roll cage in the way the airbags will likely not properly deploy. My questions are:

    1. It looks like there is only 1 side curtain airbag per side. Is that correct?
    2. Has anyone used an airbag emulator to keep the airbag light off? How well did they work and any issues?
    3. Has anyone used a seatbelt emulator? Is that a thing? or is the seatbelt tied into the system at all outside of the seatbelt light.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm curious where this goes. So are you trying to remove some airbags but not all?

exactly. The roof bars will be in the way of the side curtain and the new buckets will not allow me to retain the stock setbelt mounts and usage. I plan on leaving the airbags in the dash. I dont really see a need to remove them. I really just dont want the lights on from the missing equipment.

Also in my searched i see you bought a seat at some point? Did you put it in?

I would imagine the system could be tricked with some resistors, but I don't really know the ins and outs of airbags. I assume most people just remove them completely since there's a lot that goes into the airbag system.

I never bought seats. If I did it would be an easy swap though because my only airbags are in the steering wheel and passenger dash.

Kinda off topic to what you're asking, but I thought I read that removing or disabling an airbag could cause serious issues if filing an insurance claim in the event of an accident.

Luckily for me i'm sure any claim i submitted would already be a serious issue.

I have a track car that needed to have airbags removed as part of track prep. It was very straight forward. You will need to know the resistance across the airbag circuit -- you can measure this or someone might be able to give you can an idea of the values. Purchase the correct value resistor and add it to the airbag circuit. In my case, I've added a 2amp mini blade fuse to the circuit as well -- if for some reason the air bag signal is triggered the fuse will act as though the airbag fired.

If you need further details, let me know.
