I noticed some odd fine powder collecting along the rearmost edge of the plastic bed liner (not sure what it's actually called...) of my truck. Discovered it is from wear on the edge of the liner, caused by the bottom of the same plastic liner on the inside of the tailgate coming into contact with the bed liner. I found that the hinge pins on the tailgate are pretty loose, allowing some slop. I can move the tailgate up and down about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I think this slop is what's allowing the tailgate plastic to contact the bed liner plastic. Is this normal? I know that the pins probably need a little slop to allow the tailgate to be removed easily, but is mine too much?

My 2012 has some play...more on the passenger side than the driver's side.
