    I'm assuming this crack is in the plastic shield and not the shock body. If so, I'd probably wrap it with electrical tape to sort of seal it up and keep it from getting worse before installing.

    Well, that's part one....so you basically do the reverse of that. I think there is a part 2 that shows the process. I'm just not invested enough to keep searching.
