My fob unlocks the drivers door when pushed once then the other doors when pushed a second time. So if I wire the tailgate lock to the passenger doors it will only unlock if I push it twice saving wear and tear on the tailgate lock. Also you can change the settings in the head unit regarding whether it locks when shifted to park or not.

I did this on my 2017 shortly after I got it and it was still working perfectly when I traded it in on my 2020 a few weeks ago. Had mine set to unlock all doors at first press.

So based on these statements, basically it will mimic any door lock/unlock function, which is fine by me.

Nice to know too that repeated use is fine as well.

I may even eventually try to add one to my cap.

Did mine today. Took a little longer than I wanted but had nothing better to do. Made a box that I wrapped in sound deadening material and added a plug in case I need to remove the tailgate. The actuator seems to push and pull a little harder than would like. I'm wondering if I elongate the hole a little in both directions if it would eliminate how hard it locks and unlocks. Anyone ever try anything like that?20200330_154323.jpg 20200330_144513.jpg

I did mine today and this is what I came up with. This 4x4x2 PVC junction box was perfect. I drilled a 1 1/8" hole for the piston and a 1/4" hole at the back for the wires. I lined the extra space with 1/2 foam (old workout room floor mat) and this thing is built like a tank! That box cost me $12 CDN at Home Depot. And it matches the Cement color perfectly!!!

Thanks to this forum and the constant improvements on the design by everyone I was able to get this done. Couldn't be hapier!!!

Only thing I'll modify is adding a 1/4 rubber mat cut to the size of the box, between the box and the metal of the tailgate. I think that will make the set up more level for the mechanism.20200514_120116.jpg

Hypothetically..............Now that you've seen all the variations, if anything, what would you do differently? Especially if you were finally getting around to it with your 3rd gen Brother?
