Man how difficult is it to comprehend people might want to not let their super expensive vehicle be damaged if / when avoidable and at the same time not take a chance being injured - I caught their drift and I'm not even a rocket surgeon.

As I said in one of my other replies. weather reports are by no means 100% accurate. In fact they are FAR from it. That doesn't mean if the radar predicts hail I'm just gonna be like: "ah weather predictions suck, I'm just gonna leave my truck outside because there's no way they're right."
You're better safe than sorry. If you cover your truck and it doesn't hail what did you lose? A few minutes? If you decide to leave your truck outside because "the weather forecasts 30% rain every single day" and it DOES hail, well now you're dealing with the headache of getting you're truck repaired, dealing with insurance, possibly having your truck damaged/incorrectly repaired by a shop, diminished value, etc... Why is that so hard to understand?

Its so hard because most people I have found only read the first line of a post, they dont read the rest of it and they dont read the full thread (even if its only 1 page long) Ive had to quote my own posts to other people too many times.

LOL true. You haven't seen hail till you've lived in hail alley. In many cases hail damage is worse than collision damage. If you get rear ended, as long as your frame isn't bent, you get a new bumper, maybe a new tailgate and/or tail lights if it's bad enough and your on your way. On the other hand if you get hit by monster texas hail, every single one of your body panels are toast along with your windshield and other glass.

    You're kidding right?
I'd rather take my chances with the hail stones than damage from the plywood, especially considering the wind that often accompanies a hail storm.

It’s not that it’s difficult to understand for some people. It’s simply that we don’t stress over the possibility of weather damaging our vehicles, dealing with our insurance providers, having the vehicle repaired, diminished value, & all the other “what if’s” in life... Shit happens all the time. You deal with it & move on. None of what you’re describing is a very big deal, in my opinion. I don’t find myself ever worrying about any of these things... But if you want to worry, by all means, worry, dude. That’s not a big deal to me either. I’ll be thinking about other things.

If you already have a truck cover, throw some towels underneath and maybe that will limit most of the damage ?

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that this was directed towards me since i used the word “worry” a few times in my last post, so here it goes... Am i missing something? This is a thread titled “Preventing hail damage”. That title, along with most of these posts, suggest that people are looking for ways to prevent hail damage because, apparently, they are worried about hail damage... Does that make sense? Am i really that far off? Seriously?

I think we can all agree that we spent good money on our trucks. And since we're all on this forum then we can probably all agree that we love our trucks. If you spend your hard earned money on something that you have a liking for then it is perfectly normal to take care of your shit and be proactive and prevent damage from happening in the first place.

That's what I used to do too. I have room for 2 now but have a project inside one side. Need to get my setup going again. It worked through a little past quarter sized hail in the past.

You got me there lol. Maybe not love. But if you like your tacoma enough that you're on a forum you probably have a decent amount of appreciation for your vehicle, you get what I'm saying. I seek cover during storms for the same reason that people install sliders, I want to protect my purchase.

What about the sides of the car/truck:confused:... When I hear that a storm/hail is coming, I just go home and park the car in the garage. Done deal for me!
