What gear oil is everyone settled on? I saw OP’s post, but does anyone have a superstition on what oil they must put in their diff?

Tacoma 4x4 Gen 3 V6 my example below.

Try to take photo of differentials (drive shaft side) at home to verify no oil seepage or leaks.

How long does it take? 3-4 hours quote.
As of June 8, 2020 it often less than 2hrs.
Early Bird Tip: They open at 8am and are willing to take in 9am appointments at 8:15am.

Can I supply my own OEM seals vs Nitro Gear using Timken?
Yes! Give them to your installer when you arrive.

Have your Toyota dealership look up parts by your vin.

    or
Their waiting room has 4 seats, Excellent Air Conditioning and free Keurig coffee. Also a clean restroom. It is quite tolerable for the wait. Place does emanate of gear oil.

What to test BEFORE you leave the shop:
    1. Shift into 4wd, go forward and reverse.
    2. Shift into low range, test forward and reverse.
    3. If applicable, test existing locker still engages.
    4. Check no unexpected Dash warning
    5. Write down your mileage.
    6. Some differential seeping is normal. Wiping clean the area after you leave, or when you get home, is a good idea.

500 Mile Break-in process per our OP

First 45 miles, 3 different 15 miles trips and stop for 30 min. between each trip.

Then drive the remaining miles with no hard accelerations, no flooring it on the on-ramps, etc. Fluctuate speed on the freeway. Do 65 for a few min, then 70, then 62, etc. Yes, it is a hassle, but...

No towing for first 1000 miles.

Change the gear oil after the first 500 miles, see below.

    Warranty - One year warranty

Nitro web site recommended break in procedures.
    BREAK-IN PROCEDURE:

In order to prevent damage to differential components it is essential to follow the break-in procedure after installation of a new ring & pinion. New ring & pinions will generate more heat initially after installation and can cause gear oil to break down, leading to premature failure.

On your first drive, stop after the first 15 or 20 miles and let the differential cool for 30 minutes before proceeding. Drive conservatively for the first 500 miles following installation (avoid hard acceleration & towing). After completing standard break-in, tow for very short distances (less than 15 miles) and let the differential cool before continuing during the first 45 towing miles.

Change the gear oil after the first 500 miles. This will remove any metal particles or phosphorus coating that has come from the new ring & pinion.
Premature overloading/overheating will cause gear oil to breakdown, and may result in parts failure.
