    I could have stayed to 24 but got tired of being treated like an E5 eventhough i was E7. I could have made E8, i just didnt want to deal with 4 more years of BS...never regretted a minute, and never could substitute the fun ive had in retirement.

    CSM would've been another potential 5 years. Wait list for the academy, then 9 months there. Then sequence number, then pin, then owe three years at rank. I'll be completely honest, I loved almost all of my assignments, it was just the last one that was BS. Which like always, was more leadership related than anything. Different command team at the BN level and I very well may have stayed longer. Just to clarify it wasn't the Army that was the issue at all.

    I was mathematically eliminated from E-8 despite my test and board scores. We’d created a new career field and the two E-9 and 7 E-8 slots had literally just been staffed when I hit 21 years. Retired at about 22 1/2 - and walked out into an awesome job.

    Happy about that job part.

    I know this is old, but the Shah had bought a bunch of Scorpions (FV101) for Urban suppression as they were fast and smaller enough to go down most of the roads/ accessways in the major urban areas in Iran. They still use them today although they call them Tosan which means wild horse or fury. They would have their large tanks and carriers on the main streets and send the scorpions down the narrow roads to drive out the ‘trouble makers’ and arrest or wipe them out. Anyway, they work well and we do not have any small tanks that are suited for urban combat. 90mm gun up close and personal with coax 7.62 GPMG. Fast and relatively quiet. Our ones would do over 80kph about 50mph Easy with the jaguar engine, which is what were in them many moons ago.
    Yeah, Carter and Callaghan screwed up that entire thing And here we are today, still dealing with those arse monkeys...
