So I had one of the floor mat retaining clips in my truck break a little while back. It also looks like the carpet kind of warped where the clip connected. Anyone come across a good solution for this?

If you ever make your way out to San Diego I have an entire Double Cab carpet you can have.

That mat retainer clip style looks like the kind I have on my 2003 Gen 1. My 2015 Gen 2 has the toggle-style retainer.

The dealer will give you a set of those mat clips for free at any Toyota parts counter I've visited. As noted, that carpet is missing a grommet -- ya gotta do something there or it's only going to get worse. I can't recall if the clip kit includes the grommet -- it might.

Your hook looks like it's mounted upside-down, BTW. The split post goes in the floor grommet, and the hook piece goes through the mat.

This is likely the grommet that should be mounted in your carpet. Listed HERE on eBay.

The carpeted floor mat may be throwing you off. The hook isn't upside down. The split post is simply broken. That is the style of clip that came with that year. The clips I linked earlier fit my 2008.

Ahh -- I see that now. The tiny points would help it stay positioned on the carpet, so its orientation is indeed correct. My 2003 doesn't have those points on its clip.

The mat retainer recall clips Toyota gives out (08210-00820) have a center pin to lock the split post in place. I've not used this kind.
