Am I missing something on the spare tire discussion? All the trucks have full size spares. What difference does it make what diameter the wheel is? It's a spare steel wheels that doesn't match what's on the truck anyway. All that matters is that it's the same diameter tire as what is on the truck. My wife's Suburban has 20" wheels from the factory, but the spare is a steel 16" or 17". Tire diameter is the same.

Enough to make it worth it for me but that's not why I installed them.
I did it because I wanted to and because I could. :D

So in a Subaru it makes sense but not in a Tacoma? Interesting.

Installed cargo lights/ brackets for bed extender I kept from my 2013 / and also installed auto tailgate lock all this week.

last- installed “TRD sport” black on black emblem . I’m honestly 50/50 on it- worse case I’ll pull off. All other emblems
    On my truck removed .

two replies? people on here really get their ego raddled when you suggest going against the norm.

Have you ever owned an EJ series Subaru? You will wear out the hood latch under the steering wheel before you do your first brake job

It's just weird that same trim model will have different size spare from each other. Some have 17" rim others have 16". Some have a "full size" 265/65/17 or 265/70/16 while others have 245/70/16. Just the inconsistencies here is strange. So if some one has Sport model like I do and they have a full size 265/65/17 while I have a 245/70/16 it bothers me a little. It should be the same for all models IMHO. Not a huge deal at all just bugs me for how much the truck costs.

It’s a vinyl stamp that beyondwraps sells. It’s available on his website or if you are in SoCal he installs it for 90 bucks including stamp.

Honestly my issue is that I had my 04 4Runner that i bought used but came with factory tires (definitely not the original tires but same size) and wheels That all matched but my new 40k truck doesn’t. Just kind of a trust thing lol I don’t need a match spare but it’s a good piece of mind.

Yeah man I’m on the same page as you. They are similar tot the “trd pro” emblem. Running for tacos offers them for Sport/ OR . They are same size, everyone I’ve shared/ showed likes them, but will see if I change my mind. I’ll leave for now ... they do add a nice accent since my truck has no other emblems- I removed TRD 4x4 decals- huge pain btw .

I feel much more comfortable working under my hood with struts on both sides. I was always afraid that I’d knock the prop rod off and my truck would eat me.

I have the exact opposite fear - that the struts will fail. And my truck would eat me.

This is my issue. If I have a wheel issue out in the wasteland on a new vehicle I would expect that the full size spare would match my regular tire and wheel

That's a horrible idea. What time?

That's significant! I will look into this. I probably need to add a torsion spring. I think one broke before we bought the house and it was never replaced. I should probably replace the existing one and add the second one back in. It's a two car, single door.

Would you really head out to the wastelands without first equipping your truck? Traction boards, recovery options, first aid kit (a real one and not the little band aid kit you can buy from Toyota), oh, and a full size spare or two????
