Awesome info. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you.

Can you elaborate on the insurance policy portion?
What should I be looking for in coverage for this?

Reading reviews, it looks like a lot of complaints about messages not sending. Can you speak to the reliability of these functions?

I was under the impression that you'd only be liable for costs if you abused the system for non-emergency uses. Something like using it for Roadside Assistance because you don't have cell service. Everything I read said if it was a genuine life or death scenario you either wouldn't be liable for costs or your insurance should cover it similar to using MEDEVAC for a severe auto crash injury in a rural area.

If you have information to the contrary please let me know. I'd be interested in reading up.

As far as MEDEVAC goes, I had a friend who had a fall at a climbing ranch and was not conscious when MEDEVAC was called. Because he wasn't a member of the service, he was billed over $10K for the ride even though he didn't ask for it. He basically told them after they kept hassling him about paying the bill that he would never be able to pay that in his life and they just stopped calling.

Your insurance will cover medical costs once you reach a hospital, but will likely not cover SAR and they also likely won’t cover a wilderness helicopter evacuation. You should check with your insurance carrier to be sure, but my understanding is that this is pretty universal. I’ve researched this extensively due to the activities my wife and I like to do, but things may have changed so it’s best to verify for yourself. If you contact your insurance company to ask, make sure they understand that you’re talking about a true wilderness rescue and not an airlift from a local park.

If you are out of country and trigger the device then you are responsible for 100% of the cost if you don’t have a policy.

If the federal government is handling the SAR then they likely won’t charge, but when using a PLB in remote areas they’ll likely dispatch a private or local agency because the federal government agencies are unable to respond quickly enough. When you trigger the device they assume it is a worst case scenario and go with the option that’s most likely to save your life. Most states will not charge unless they determine the cause was preventable. If they do determine the need for rescue was preventable then you get billed.

Camped a few nights and explored around the Mulberry river last couple of days. The weather was perfect for early May.

    Yeah.
Nice! I keep forgetting to bring my drone (and remember to give the batteries a fresh top-off), and I'm not very good at taking video, much worse at editing.

My wife and I have been trying to get down there for about a year now. Is the view from the ground as good?

    I wouldn't go there if there's a chance of rain within 50 miles....y'all don't remember this

I remember. My girlfriend has a friend that lost her mother and daughter. No way I’d camp by a river if theres a chance of heavy rains. Got caught in a surprise rain storm on the buffalo once that brought the water up quite a bit. It only rained for 2 hours but was enough to make us rethink our camp site.

I'm putting these on CL, but I thought I would throw them up here in case anyone is looking for a set of tires. I purchased these new in July of '17. They have approximately 30,000 miles on them with plenty of tread remaining. $400 takes them. They can be picked up in Searcy.

What did you replace them with? I’m still waiting on my KO2s to wear out so I can get taller tires. I need to do some more driving!
