Front mud flaps with big tires.. help!

I have 33" tires and i have found they throw gravel and rocks up into the side of my truck from the front. Its not getting popped up from the outside of the fender flares as much as it is that little gap where the lower body cuts in. My tires are too big (even with the 3" lift) to fit stock front mud flaps to cut down on the rocks getting kicked up. I am thinking of having a welder cut out 2 mud flaps for me out of diamond plate, does anyone have any other suggestions or has anyone had a similar issue but found a great way to fix it? Thanks!

Since this post I did some thinking of my own and bought a sheet of 1/8" diamond plate. I then traced out a small front mud flat, had a welder burn them out for right and left, and drill holes in them that matched up with the factory holes in the flares. Then i had him put a slight bend in them to get even more clearance when turning my tire (cause steel plate being ripped off and bouncing around off my tire, suspension, and body didn't seem appealing).

I am working on putting them on this week actually, if you would like I will post a picture with the final product

 

Put these on yesterday. A thin material but extremely durable. I made a thread about them yesterday, someone else said they will never hold up on the trail but I am more than confident with them.
