Overall best suspension options for my tacoma?

Im new to the tacomas and recently just purchased a 2006 prerunner. Im wanting to run a 265 all terrain tire but not sure wat my best options are. The truck wouldnt be in to much off road stuff just old dirt hunting trails mostly. Any one able to help on what my best bet for ride comfort and good shocks and the best tire for street and just dirt trails? any help is appreciated. Thanks

 

Are you looking to lift at all?

 

Spindles with adjustable coilovers such as king, box, or icon

x2 cause for 265's you dont need a lift

 

I would say an OE after market progressive coilover. Like King, SAW or fox.

 

Not really worried about lift. The truck has 245 on it now but im wanting to put a 265 when these wear down. Didnt know what i would have to do to keep from rubbing i would rather change shocks than trim anything. It still has the mud flaps and i will probably leave them on it. All i really wanna do is run a 265 all terrain without rubbing when turning. And again thanks for the help guys. not real smart on the suspension side of the trucks

 

265/70R16 is a tire available from the factory and will fit without any problems for you.

Many run a 32" 265/75R16 tire without problems, but others have to remove their mudflaps.

All you have to do is spend a little time looking around the boards for folks who've had problems as a result of lifting their trucks. VSC (1 in 5) Vibrations (more than half) rough ride (no counting for sure as its very subjective.)

If you don't "need" to lift your truck, don't do it. If you're sure that's what you want, do your homework.

 

I say if your looking for more of a stock set up...I'd get some Billy 5100s set @ 1.85 and get some decent A/Ts like BFG All Terrains

Dont really have one this is something that will be done over time. Im gonna buy the stuff i need over time then do all the work all at one time. im not wanting to spend a ridicolous amount on it though. Its an everday driver besides on the weekends during hunting season and then its only on dirt trails with small mudholes if any at all.

 

so with the 5100s set at 1.85 you can run a 265 bfg all terrain? and anyone know where to find the best deal on the 5100s?

If all you're wanting to do is run 265s and use it as a deer-hauler, just leave it stock. There's really no point in risking lift side-effects if you don't need the clearance.

At most you'll have to remove your mudflaps. That's it.
