Seriously glad you stumbled on that issue before things got worse. Something so small could have proven deadly to your motor. I open the cap up on mine pretty often bc im paranoid about this happening to me.

I often feel my pump just to make sure it is running as well. Such a small item has a huge task and I don't need it wiping my motor out.

    I'm surprised I didn't catch it sooner.

Someone should try a gb with Davtron. So easy to see how systems working for the $200ish price tag.

I have the correct tap here for mod day if people have the rest of the install completed we could drill/tap the holes in the sc cover easy!

Folks like you are what make this site great. It's one thing to be knowledgeable, but if you're able to teach others and explain things in layman's terms, that is invaluable!:fistbump:
What all is reqd for this install? I may try to knock this out before the mod day.. i definitely dont trust myself to tap the sc cover:oops:

Agreed, i think we should all have something to monitor/verify things are working. Way too much risk when pushing the limits with smaller pulleys

Does anyone in here have an exhaust tip they've cut off the TRD catback like this one? Im trying to find another so i can cut the tips off my aFe sidepipes and have these welded on. Just need one more.. if you've got one let me know what youd like to get for it!

I haven’t taken mine off but it looks flat and I’ve got the stepped NST from my order. Emailed them but no reply.

I was positive I had the flat one. The step is really tucked into the alternator body and only when I pulled it off did I find out I needed the stepped one.

for the AFR gauge does it matter if it’s closer to the headed cat or the secondary cat? Tossing on a no weld on the drivers side to hold me over.

    My shit is all stock.
The exhaust valve is open for 8 crank degrees of the intake stroke with the exhaust cams retarded. Talk about a built in EGR. You're literally sucking exhaust into the cylinder. Not to mention the increased overlap. It also opened later, meaning that less of the up-stroke was used to push the exhaust out.

Go the other way and the exhaust valve opens earlier. Then there's less pressure there at the EVC event because we've had more time to push that exhaust out.

The intake side is pressurized now. We want to maximize that.

    upload_2020-5-14_23-18-52.jpg

So, Based on what info I have on the stock cams (this graph above), I've been doing some figuring. All angles in crankshaft degrees btw.

The intakes are open for 232 degrees. (duration)
The exhausts are open for 236 degrees.

The un-advanced intake lobe centerline is 124 degrees ATDC
The exhaust lobe centerline is 116 BTDC
    (assuming symmetrical lobes)

This gives a stock lobe separation angle of 120 degrees.

Retarding the exhaust cams 6 crankshaft degrees makes for 117 degree LSA.

Advancing them makes for 123 LSA.

Which is that the right direction for a supercharged engine?

Interestingly, you can also see where I believe they (APR) came up with the 3 degree (six crank) number. They slammed it right smack dab into the back of the (un-advanced) intake valve opening event @ 8 degrees ATDC.

So if I'm reading that right- you believe the 3° retard makes sense for NA and supercharged?

A more complete burn in general makes a lot of sense for supercharged trucks. You want to utilize the most out of the combustion burn cycle and removing the built in EGR system that is integrated into the camshafts is the best way to do it.

EGR delete is a very popular mod in the early LSx community. These guys do it who are looking for maximum effort NA builds and also the ones who are boosted as well.
