This is what happens when you find the cheapest possible place to mount tires

Was the shop able to determine if all the TPMS modules were functional? This usually can be determined by a hand-held TPMS reader not dependent on the vehicle's TPMS ECU.

If it is a broken off sensor and it is still in the tire you should hear it rolling around against the tire and wheel while driving slow in a parking lot. Have someone listen outside while you drive.

I would avoid those type of auto shops when it comes to to tire mounting/balance/alignment or anything they are the worst and getting more worse, better go to a mom and pop type shop they still have good standards of work

I didn’t know swapping tires could cause so much trouble. Lesson learned.

No, they said they weren’t able to tell because they couldn’t access the TPMS module in the truck or something.

Long shot but try disconnecting the battery for a few mins. It won’t hurt.

Please don’t make me watch this. I swear I’ll never go to this shop for tires again!

Bringing it to the dealer to diagnose. Mieneke said they’ll cover the cost of diagnosis but they want to do the repair. Doesn’t matter to me as long as I’m not getting charged. If they want to roll up their sleeves and dig deeper into this thing that’s cool.

This is going to get interesting. Here’s my prediction.

Dealer plugs in Techstream and determines 1 or more sensors not transmitting. Meineke breaks bead loose and finds broken sensor, replaces sensor, then can’t get their scan tool to communicate with truck. Then they tell you, “Sometimes you just have to drive it a few days and wait for the light to go out”. Between Meineke and the dealer, you’ve got too many cooks in the kitchen.

Hope that’s not the case. They said they can install and program sensors. If they can’t then I’ll have another shop do it and they can pay for it.

Yes. They said they’ll cover the cost of the diag and also replace the sensor free of charge. This is only if the dealer says the sensor is malfunctioning. If they say the battery is dead on one sensor and that’s the problem then they won’t cover anything.

My prediction is everything is going to turn out good. Dealer will say a sensor is busted, Meineke will pay for the diag and then successfully replace the sensor and the light will be gone. Then I’ll go home and make a perfect hamburger and everyone at Meineke will get diarrhea.

I had one fail like that, I got shitty with them and they replaced it but I paid for 4 brand new tires. I guess they ate the cost. I recently replaced all 5 on another 06 I got and I’d rather have this system working.

Happened to me earlier this year at NTB. They did make it right though by replacing it.

Got the call from the dealer. They said the front left and right rear are not responding. Meineke will cover the cost of the diagnosis but they want to be the ones that dismount the tire to look at the sensors. I really want to be there when they do that. I’m just worried the sensors are damaged but not visually damaged so they try and tell me the batteries have died and they won’t cover it. Oh well, I’ll get them the truck in the morning and we’ll go from there.
