Near Harrisonburg there is a road climb to some awesome trails. I think it’s 6 miles from the typical parking spot to the saddle where you choose a couple more miles on gravel or road depending on the trail you want to ride. That shit was the worst but the trails are so worth it....

yeah so looking at the elevation on clawhammer rd, it says it is 4 miles with 1400 ft of elevation. I cannot do that, I know.

We have a "fireroad" of sorts here, it's an old shut down asphalt road, that we always start with. 1.2 miles, 264 ft climb, 0 descent. I can do it now, finally, but it is a struggle for me.

That’s a long climb haha, that decent though! I think I’d be more worried about my arms not being used to that long of a decent tbh

This is a ride I would like to repeat if we end up breaking up into two groups. But I'm not trying to put anyone out of their comfort zone, we can decide what trails we hit the day of, depending on how people feel.

so I think I found the loop you have shown here, question is, is that parking symbol in the top left accessible for "shuttle" with a truck? I assume all the P's down bottom is the campground, and so if it's at all possible to get to the upper P that might save some of the fatties like myself some time. I want to try everything, but I just don't want to hold any of you up

That upper Parking lot you are talking about is on Avery Creek, it's farther away than it looks, not a viable option. We could shuttle a little, like if you wanted to shuttle kitsuma, but there is still a lot of elevation to climb that you can't shuttle. The truth is, you really gotta earn it in Pisgah.

well I'd say as long as you aren't ripping it through pisgah then heading to another city all within the same couple hours then I might be alright. I'll know the starting and ending points and can read a map and track myself lol.

maybe another bike hiker will tag along with us.

My body has embraced the “quarantine 15” a bit too much. Trying to ride 10-20 miles every night to get out of it

Ha! I’m pretty sure I’ll be riding with the group doing shorter distances because there’s not a lot of hills to hit hard around me

our gravitational pull is much stronger than those long distance folks, so you might not be able to avoid riding with us anyways.
