That's still crazy fast. My OBT is probably 4-4.5" legspan and just molted ... but that was its first molt since June of 2019. What are you feeding yours?

 

Ha well I did hear they grow fast?

I vary it up between crickets and roaches



I read temperatures also either speed up or slow down metabolism and molt rates. Being that I keep my living room warm for my tarantulas, that could be a big part of it.

Not even sure why I crush the head of every roach or cricket for my OBT; no fucks are given as he goes in for the kill instantly.

 

Yeah temp is a big part of it but I keep my office around 70 which a good average temp for Ts. Actually i just checked my molt spreadsheet and my OBT molted 2x over a 2 month period in 2018.

Oh I forgot to mention, I bought one of those Brilliance tupperware pieces a month ago from Safeway.

Perfect for my OBT when she gets a bit bigger.

 

Love them. Wish they made some that were a bit deeper though so I could use them for larger Ts.

Pterinochilus murinus

Common name being the Orange Baboon Tarantula, and even more commonly known as the Orange Bitey Thingy



Even as a sling it was giving me threat poses

Orange bitey thingy reminded me of Camel Spider.
I've seen them afew times in the desert. Although no where the size like on you tube.

No camels for them to feed on here

 

A roach can eat a tarantula?

 

If the tarantula is defenseless like right after molting.

 

This was my very first post on this thread; posted a pic of one of many camel spiders I killed while in Iraq -

 

Roach, cricket, meal worm even or worse, a beetle from a mealworm that got away.

They pose a serious threat to a tarantula that either just molted, or is molting.

I crush the heads to ensure my T's safety because I can't sit to babysit its food if it doesn't go after the roach or cricket right away.

I had one instance where a mealworm got away and burrowed itself almost instantly and instead of taking a chance, I took my tarantula out and dug through the substrate until I found it and removed it.
