Yes, it would be the new one, even though I don't like the PKE Meter location.

I am trying one more thing before I make my decision. I installed a sacrificial fence on the Hitachi and am attempting to lengthen the dust boot in some fashion. I just checked the 90° accuracy with it installed and it is as bang on as I would expect from a miter saw. If the dust collection is improved, then the Kapex waits.

My friend has a Kapex, it takes some getting used to, but the accuracy is like no other saw.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
That is a tough call. I don't use a miter saw much any more but when I do you are exactly right about the dust collection. That's probably why I don't use it much.

I made my decision, at least for the time being. I fashioned an extension to the dust hood and I'm not sure it made much of a difference. However, I'm not done experimenting. With the zero clearance tape on the deck, and the auxillary fence making a zero clearance on the back, I'm extremely accurate again and I know that for a fact. I'm willing to keep experimenting through the summer with the dust collection and the Kapex is on hold. I just ordered a Rotex 90 for both small stock sanding and for the rotary sanding feature that I may test out on an old dresser I have. Means I have to stock an additional two sizes, but I think for the projects I have coming up it may make the most sense. I can always get the Kapex later.

Of the shroud modification? It's just a piece of plastic, but I'll see what I can do. I ordered a saw stache and have an idea for it. It should be able to attach to the stationary portion of the saw and allow the pieces to hit and drop at the rear of the blade vs fly out behind it. To be determined, but at $11 I'm taking the chance.

I did the stash stuff on my TS, it was actually conveyer belt brushes off McCaster but I wasn't super impressed with the "hood." I may play around more with it this summer but so far it's just up and out of the way. For the MS I did a typical MS type hood. Just covered in plastic at this point, if I still like it, I will swap to 1/4 MDF or something else.

My MS is cantilevered out from some cabs, and sits over my jointer due to space considerations. Unfortunately that means no real hood just because of how chonky that boy is. It swings out wide for 45° cuts. I'll take a pic of it in a bit, I'm waiting for a shipment to arrive today of some contraband. :anonymous:

Reworking our hunting blind. Threw it together years ago out of free pallets. It’s cold. Won’t be now.

I have a boom arm setup with a cord embedded with a vac hose, makes using other tools so much more convenient. They discontinued these awhile back, but luckily found two.
