Sealer on PVC threads

    ***PCV not PVC...its Friday!

    I’ve seen Some people putting gasket sealer like ultra black on the threads of the PCV valve when they change it out. Is this necessary? It looks like the one that was in there had ultra black on it, it Took some persuasion with a breaker bar to break loose.

    Good question....
    Not necessary in my opinion...the threads on the "PCV" valve are tapered so you will have a sealed fit once threaded in....be careful not to over tighten!

    The only pressure that you will see at the PCV Valve is crankcase pressure. No sealant needed, you could however put a wrap of teflon tape or antiseize on the threads for easier removal. A breaker bar should not be needed to remove the PCV.

    Yeah I should have used anti seize, maybe I’ll back it out and put some on.
