Not too much. I had my buddy ease the jack up slowly while I pulled on the hub to move the center-pin hole under the pin and seat the leaf pack on the axle. Then just re-assembled.

If the leafs are being a pain in the butt to keep aligned while you clamp them back together, try this:

- Insert center pin from top.
- Place a clamp on leafs on either side of center pin (within a few inches or so), tighten a few turns.
- Check center pin play...if it still slides up and down in the leaf pack easily, leave it in place and tighten clamps a few more turns. If it DOESN'T slide up and down easily, take a hammer and give the leafs 2 or 3 moderate taps on the side. you can use your hands too. But shift them around until the center pin play is good.
- When center pin is sliding up and down easily, tighten clamps again a few more turns.
- Re-check center pin play, work leafs with hammer/hands/cursing as needed.
- Repeat until leafs are fully clamped. Remove center pin from top of leaf pack and continue assembly, inserting it from bottom.

Warning: DO NOT force center pin loose by hammering...always work the leafs...if you start wailing on the center pin, you could fuck up the threads.

I'm working by myself so I guess it's a little harder to get it aligned. This time I'm going to keep the axle straight and place the jack under the pumpkin. I think part of my problem was that I placed the jack off to the side I was working on.

 

Even if you jack straight, the axle will shift slightly if it's still attached at the other side because of the suspension over there.

DO NOT completely disconnect and droop the axle...you tear brake lines.

I would jack the axle up until the center pin bottom is putting very light pressure on the seat, then place jack stands under the axle to support it while you put some grunt into shifting it so the center pin seats into the hole. Be sure the truck is well supported if you try this, as you don't want to knock it off the jacks/jackstands, obv.

 

I didn't even think about the other side affecting it . I wouldn't droop it fully because there is no way in hell I'm going to take the other side back off. Thanks for all you help.

Question, I have 2 sets of wheels, and will be getting a free set of 35s this weekend, I will be getting atleast one of my current tires mounted as a spare. Should I keep my current 35s mounted on the tundra wheels and get my facfotry sport wheels mounted with the new tires. Or just get one of the old tires mounted on my sport wheels and the new ones on the tundra wheels?

The 35s I have now seem really old and have lots of cracks but are holding air no problems, and I prefer the tundra wheels over my stock sports

 

Sell it and buy a 10 year old Discovery.
