capitol peak.jpg This looks like a run day trip just to go mess around, go to the top have lunch ,explore a bit. Has anyone been to the top? It seems like normal forest service/fire roads to me from what I can find on the internet. I am new to the tacoma area and wanted to check this out. maybe even a night run to star gaze a bit.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
That's my stomping ground - been exploring, shooting and doing SAR Training up there for the last decade plus. Not much in the way of wheeling or 4x4 trails, but there are some good quad/moto/bike trails.

I would suggest downloading Avenza app on your phone then load the Cap. Forest PDF map. The map is older (2013) but is makes it super easy to navigate and explore up there:
    https://www.avenzamaps.com/maps/812356/capitol-state-forest

One of my favorite viewpoints (of Summit Lake):
    https://goo.gl/maps/F2oC6hUo66Djy9R9A

Some good viewpoints if you find the right spur road.

I'd head out there myself but my truck is torn apart right now and not drivable. I really need to finish this bumper build so I can get the f*ck out in the woods!
