There's maybe 2 spots on that side (curb painted), and they're pretty much full time taken by other driveway having 1%rs.

Plus I can't see my truck when it's parked there :D

I can see how it's annoying. It would be convenient for you to walk straight from your door to your car. It does look like the kind of neighborhood that has an HOA or CCRs. It might be worth your time to read through the rules and see what they say. I doubt that they cover it, but they might.

I grew up in neighborhoods like that, at one point living in a house directly across from the president of the HOA. We kept getting notifications for having vehicles parked in our driveway and in front of our house, and for not being able to park a vehicle in our garage (it was set up as a workshop). Meanwhile, el presidente across the street had a garage so full of crap that you couldn't get a vehicle in there and he parked his other POS's in front of our house, including a carpool van that he drove for work. He stopped bugging my family after he started losing valve cores from his van tires. It's a bummer when your job is picking people up and getting them to work on time and you're late because you have a flat tire or two. Over and over again.

I’m not cool with people parking in front of my house. He should clean out his garage and park his extra vehicle inside. I don’t let my sons park in front of other houses either. Some people have no consideration for others. They are clearly trying to let you know this is what they expect.

Get on the HOA board and get a law passed that paints designated parking spots on the street.

Or only allow street parking with a permit. Which, obviously, you, being on the HOA board now, would volunteer to oversee who gets them.

I think it depends on the severity. My aunt and uncle live in one and it is very loose. As in no one cares.

That all changed with a new neighbor. Guy has a hoarding problem. To the point of where he hoisted a shitty row boat up into a tree to make more space. Easily 8 to 10 rusted out pieces of shit towed in at night sitting on his lawn. Then it made it's way into the street parking and that is when the HOA came back and started enforcing the most basic of rules. Like not blocking your neighbors driveway with a chunk of metal with no doors no windshield no engine and no way to move it.

@donp maybe have an accidental cooking grease spill where they usually step to get into their car.

Yeah true but the HOA my MIL lives in just seems like a pain in the ass. Makes sense for her though as her and the Step father in law dont have to worry about yard work etc.

Definitely a violation of parking etiquette and relatively high on the dick meter. But certainly not illegal.

The lady across the street from me had an issue with some people from down the road parking in front of her house. She didn't like it. So when they would she would set up her rotary lawn sprinkler. Nothing like a shiny, just washed black truck soaked down. They would get so pissed at her. But are you going to throat punch a 75 year old woman? Eventually they got the picture and moved on

Depends on what’s behind you. If nothing, not a problem. If there’s a vehicle parked closely behind you then it’s a problem.

Why is this the question as opposed to the absurd behavior of your neighbor claiming a spot on the street having a driveway, when you have none. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I’d get a friend to park in front of her car so that his truck wouldn’t fit when he returned. Just to make a point.

The one parking thing that really gets me is folks who park in handicap spaces. No reason other than just plain laziness.

A few years ago I had stopped for lunch at a park on the coast. Lo and behold a truck whips into the handicap and out comes a perfectly fit individual. Turns out it was a city vehicle. I took a few pictures and then challenged the guy when he came out. His response was essentially tough luck to the handicapped.

I notified the mayor's office and was blown off. So I contacted the CHP. Apparently they were much more interested. They ticketed the offender, and the state got involved with the way the city did things.

Oh, and I am an a$$hole and will park behind you if you are in a space. I'll be sitting there when the cops come along for that nice fat ticket. Funny thing, it seems to be mostly women that do it. Bad shoes must be making it hard to walk a few extra feet.

Open a church on that block that way on Sunday morning there won't be anywhere to park because the street will be covered in the parishoner's cars.

Something has to be done, OP, to resolve this unacceptable situation. It's almost like he is pissing on your leg to assert his territorial dominance. Maybe buy a 2nd vehicle and when he's in the middle of swapping parking places you somehow jump in there. Maybe park it around the corner and back in while they jockey around. Keep us informed.
