Busting a CV axle is a given. It's just a question of what else it takes with it. I still can't figure out how I managed to break the inner stub axle and I hope it's not a common occurrence on these NAPA axles. Only part of the CV axle I haven't broke yet is the half shaft.

On that note, I almost have all the parts fabbed up for my winch mount.

The plates that are being used to clamp on the winch try mount angles are actually the bumper mount extension plates. Only thing left to do it fab the doublers.

I now have a 6.5 Creedmoor R700 S/A with a 28" stainless match grade Shilen heavy IBS profile barrel, threaded for a muzzle brake! And a cheap imitation Henderson Precision three-way case trimmer (made from two RCBS Trim Pros, a Trim Pro motor and bracket, and a couple of Sinclair Int'l shell holder drivers). Honestly, if I hadn't got most of those parts for free, it would have been cheaper to just buy a Henderson Precision case three way case trimmer. Only problem there is you have to buy an $80 cutting head for each caliber you use, where as I can either use the one Hornady 3-way cutter I have, or spend another $40 on a second one to leave one set up for the .223 and one for the 6.5.

The best news was rechambering my barrel cost me about $180 less than what I was quoted, so if you need any precision rifle work done, check out Bryant Customs, LLC. Mike Bryant is a builder of world class precision rifles and he will treat you right. The money I saved from what he quoted me and what he actually charged me will pay for my Hellfire Muzzle brake. I might use it to pay the lion's share of my Redding Competition reloading dies though.

This is my quarantine project. I'm really tired of dragging my smoker in after each use, so I'm building a smoker shack in the backyard. I pulled out an old shed to free up some space. Still have to put up the roof and and walls, but I'm making good progress for a couple weekend days and a few nights after work. It will house my Pit Boss smoker and a Blackstone griddle along with a small fridge and some tunes.

If it's an AR-15 lower and you already have a .223, IMBO, you should go with 6.5 Grendel. If it's an AR-10 lower, then definitely 6.5 Creedmoor, haha.

I've already melted my credit card down buying the muzzle brake and all the crap to support the new rifle (dies, brass, powder, a box of 130gr Sierra TMKs, ammo boxes, a Sinclair R700 bolt maintenance tool kit, etc...).

You won't be breaking any speed records with it, but you'll have a butt load of bullet selections for it and it will probably perform really well at longer distances...say up to 300yrds. The round itself is based off of a necked up 6mm PPC which is all the rage with the competition BR shooters. The 6mm PPC itself is based off a shortened and necked up .220 Russian cartridge.

I was considering getting a 6.5 Grendel upper for my AR, but with the 6.5 Creedmoor coming, I'm just going to go with that. If I ever build an AR 10, I'm have a 6.5 Creedmoor upper for it.

Right now I'm angsting over how I want to proceed in the future with the Creedmoor. I want to put it on an MDT LSS-XL Gen 2 chassis with a MAGPUL PRS Gen 3 adjustable butt stock. With all the parts and incidentals, it'd eat up the better part of a grand to build it. However, MAGPUL has a pretty nice looking stock that I think I'd like just as well, but the problem is it won't accommodate my IBS heavy varmint contour barrel and I'm not sure if it can be inletted to do so. The initial cost of the stock and the mag well floor plate would be less than half the MDT/PRS would be, but the gap would probably close by the time I had the MP stock opened up to free float my barrel.

Did you mean a Ruger .338 Lapua Mag? If so that's effin' awesome. I'd like to neck up a .338 Lapua Mag to 10mm, but there aren't any 10mm rifle bullets I know of unless you fudge and go with .416, but even then there aren't any decent .416 bullets unless you get them off Barrett. I think those are solid tungsten though.

If you want a fun blaster the 10.5 inch pistol get's the job done. I haven't shot it with match grade ammo yet, but xm193 is under 2 inches at a hundo with the dot site.

The Grendal is cool too, I'll have one at some point.

If I were to build anything around that short say 10-12.5” it’d probably be 300 blackout. Just cause they suppress so well, otherwise anything under 14.5” for 556 just isn’t appealing to me

This one started as 300 blackout, I just didn't have the cash for the suppressor so I tossed a 5.56 barrel on it.

I feel you on that. I’m thinking a suppressor will come after I build this rifle. Might just build another 556 since my current one is a poor mans PSA lol
