No, I still owe some on it. Their offer on the trade in would be $600 less than the payoff amount. KBB value is at $13,774, highest I've received is $13,000. It sucks, but I haven't been able to get a dealer to budge on that. I do though because obviously it reduces the amount I pay in taxes.

...^^^... FYI ... If you have USAA auto insurance ... IIRC, you can get an extra 20% for a totaled vehicle and that is much cheaper than dealer supplied GAP ... IMO.

I think that extra 20% stays with you after the GAP would expire due to payoff balances.

PS ... Sounds like you bought a nice truck ... congrats ...

I second the USAA extra 20%. Pay like $7 a month for it. Had to use it in the past and it was definitely worth having.

What Tulsa Dealership? I am about to pull the plug this evening on a TRD OR from Norton. They are giving the best price right now IMO.

Dealer isn't budging from their 41.6k price on a 44.5k msrp taco. If they can't bring it down a bit more I'm gonna try and force them to throw in atleast $1200-1500 in accessories, since I'm gonna end up buying them anyway.

What do others think about GAP? There is obviously still risk involved but if there is a vehicle I’d worry less about it would be a Tacoma due to resale. Definitely not wrong to have though

    A few.
You can purchase GAP insurance through your insurance company cheaper and then drop it once you get the loan paid down in a couple years. If you purchase it from the dealer it gets added to the loan amount and you pay for it the entire length of the loan including interest.

If I need gap insurance I'll let my lawyer negotiate, Toyota trucks in NM are at premium prices, dealers usually won't go down unless using
    costco or something like that.

I got GAP insurance with my Navy Fed loan - I think it was $299 - so just over $4 a month

...^^^... I think that you could cancel your GAP at the dealer too and get a refund ... even if it is a refund to your loan.

The USAA "Extra 20%" (if totaled) is a super deal IMO ... good luck.

Yeah the finance manager said that the GAP coverage can be discontinued at anytime and refunded a check. So how does it work, am I able to obtain GAP insurance from USAA instead while utilising Toyota financing for the 0% APR? I have USAA insurance coverage on my car and wonder if that's something I can add onto the insurance monthly bill for the truck.

Anybody in Florida looking for a White Off Road Double Cab short bed 4x4 needs to hit up Palm Beach Toyota. Just had to walk away from a pretty good deal because I want to save up a little more for a down payment and I really want a Cement or Voodoo Blue. Message me if you want the guys email/number I was dealing with and I’ll give you more details. Kinda hurts to walk away especially with inventory dwindling down here but oh well

Here in Florida I bought my 20' Taco SR5, 4 Cyl. (2.7) 2WD Access Cab for 38k Out The door up from the 31sticker price. There was a 'dealer package' attached that bumped it up to 34) The Tacos similar to what you are looking at were in the high 30's to lower 40's (and that was just based on the sticker price, without factoring in all the fees) In my opinion, that is not a bad price. My experience with dealerships is once you go in there, make sure you give the salesperson HELL!!! F__K being a nice guy. He aint your friend and IS NOT LOOKING OUT FOR YOU! He/she is only looking to get the most he/she can out of you!! AND be firm...no matter how bad you want it...DONT SHOW IT...lol! (I know most if not all of you here know that...and its hard not to act like you'll be in deep depression if you dont drive out of there with the thing...lol) Put on your best poker face! And if necessary choose the right moment to get up off that negotiating table and start to walk out. Chances are very good they'll tell you they're going to 'ask the manager' what can be done!! (sorry didnt mean to be long winded)

Yes I did that on my current Tacoma. After a year or so of payments I felt I had enough payed on it that I wasn't worried about it anymore, so I went back and cancelled the GAP coverage on it. Got like 70% of what I paid back and they just applied it to the loan directly (mine is through BoA).

As was said above, USAA doesn't have GAP but they do have an add-on you can purchase which will +20% the payout if you have an insurance claim. It should be enough to cover differences in payout vs. value in the event of a total loss, especially on a Tacoma where they hold value so well.

Exactly will be paying for a year or so on the USAA CRA add on to ins then cancel, thats the game plan. Looks like I’ll stick to the dealer financing minus the GAP and go with USAA on their Car Replacement Assistant plan, not GAP but like it with the +20% coverage on top of total loss. Thank you all for the sound advices. Looking forward to sign and drive off in two weeks!

Quick update from me. I have been working with 3 dealerships over the past 3-4 weeks, and this week, 2 of the 3 dealers raised the prices on me due to "low inventory". So I decided to go into the one still offering me a decent price, but they didn't have any in stock. However, we agreed on a price and they allowed me to put a $500 deposit down on an incoming truck. Anyone have any experience with this? Hoping this works out.

This is a base truck with only weather tech floor mats and bed lighting (haggled with them to throw it in lol).

2020 TOYOTA TACOMA Double Cab TRD Off Road V6 AT (cement)
    MSRP: $38,444.00
    Discount: $4,986.60
    Rebate: $1,750.00

    Price before tax/fees: $31,707.40
    Roughly $34,332 OTD in NoVA

Decent price?? That is an unbelievable price you got! If my math is right, almost 18% off MSRP, which is pretty amazing.
