I’ve never bought a truck based on how my wife’s ass felt. Like it or don’t. But seriously If she thinks the base model is stiff she’ll hate the sport so that’s out. So I guess youre spending the extra money to buy an off-road or buy the base and switch out the coilover shocks and the rear shocks. Money wise you’ll be ahead on the last option.

The difference may not be enough to make her happy. There IS a difference, but it’s certainly not night and day and will still ride like a truck. No changing that.

I doubt OP wants to pay for LT to keep the Mrs. happy but to each their own ha.

Lol I love it when people complain about the ride on tacomas, I think my sport rides like a dream. But then again I've driven trucks and SUVs my whole life and my "other truck" at work is a type 1 ambulance on a heavy duty silverado chassis. :D

Yep. I’ve owned four Toyota’s. Trucks are trucks. But I’ve never thought the Tacoma was a stiff ride. My 2015 is on bilsteins and it’s rides great.

I don’t even think my 93 Pickup on torsion bars is that stiff of a ride

You might be better off without a pickup if she doesn't like the ride. There are many SUVs that can Tow. Do you have a budget? The OR is a lot more expensive than an SR.

What are the teardrop’s weight (fully loaded) and dimensions?

A 4Runner will ride a little softer with its coils in the rear, albeit shorter in length. If you can find a 4th gen with a V8 it had a higher tow rating. Depends on your trailer and needs.

My TearDrop is a TAG Boondock 5 wide, weighs 1200 pounds dry, probably less than 20000 fully loaded and fully of water . This Tow vehicle is also going to replace my 2002 Jeep Wrangler that I love, but I have got to thin the fleet. So I need something reasonable offroad that will ride well enough to take the wife from Arkansas to Alaska. Looking at this on Monday. Wonder where it would fall ride wise in the spectrum?

The extra length of a Double Cab Long Bed may help some with the washboards along the way. I’ve been to AK and back and the washboards were far more of an issue than any “rock crawling” situation so to speak ha.

I saw a 2015 DCLB Sport for sale the other day. That’d be my choice.

Keep us posted on the trip! Good luck with finding the right truck!

Buy what you like , and then replace the stock suspension with something better, and then better tires. I love my 5100s with ome coils, cheap but still very nice. IMG_20200506_181835_371.jpg

The ZR2 is a sweet truck. The only good looking Colorado imo.

Guess she has made the decision for you. ZR2 it is.

    :bananadead: this thread.

@andrewkissam is correct. The OR has the soft suspension, Sport has stiffer and all other trims share the same shocks. Don't understand how that's so hard to comprehend.

Now the Pro is kinda special tho and has its own Fox suspension.

I really like the Colorado, if not for the dealers and my bad luck with GM I might've bought one.

Ok this try this one more time. OR softer, Sport stiffer, every thing else is the same.

You might check out a 4Runner and a Tundra for reference. Both are a bit cushier in ride and seats, but for some more bucks.
