I previously took my Tacoma to get an oil change at the Autonation Toyota Dealership. For the following oil change I did it myself. I usually buy the oil filter from the dealership and do my own oil change but with this virus stuff I didn't bother going over there, so I bought my a filter from an auto parts store. The previous oil filter said "Precision Parts" and it is an Autonation brand according to the label. Everytime I bought one I was given an oil filter that said Toyota. Is Toyota cutting costs? Or is Autonation pushing there own brand? Anyone know if it is less quality?

Autonation dealers are pretty scummy. I bought my 2018 4Runner from an Autonation Toyota dealer because they gave me the best price. However they switched the financing company from Toyota Motor Credit to a national bank without telling me. I found out when the first billl came from a national bank instead of Toyota Motor Credit.

I wanted them to reprogram a few options after I bought my 4Runner. They said their service department will do it for free if I give them perfect scores on the survey.

So what I’m trying to say is I’m not surprised your Autonation dealer used some generic self branded filter instead of a genuine Toyota filter.
