Icon rxt leaf pack

I installed them with the 3rd option since I’ll be adding some weight to the back. Currently I have 5100 shocks in back and also at the front at the highest setting but there is still some rake and idk if I can fit any bigger tires yet in the front. What do you guys think?

 

It looks good, can you get hub to top of wheel well measurements front and back? I'm about to jump from option 1 to 2 or 3 because I carry some weight and or tow a trailer once in a while. Thanks!

Travel is 8.4"

 

I'm running extended brake lines on mine but it's only because I upgraded to 12" travel Fox shocks and did the shock mount relocation. Otherwise, it's not necessary with the stock travel shocks.

Thanks! I went with the 2" Fox LSC 980-06-034. The compression adjustment has come in handy for when I carry heavier loads in the rear.

 

Im on option 2 w/ bilst. 5125 and went with +4” lines, its nessasary.

 

I have the leaf pack installed on option 3 and am not sure it will be beefy enough once I get a drifter set up in the rear. Does anyone know if these springs can be beefed up? I called icon and I got the standard response of the product is what it is, don’t mess with it

 

Leaf spring is just part of the equation. You also have to think about your shocks. The best thing to do is get customed valved. After that, if you still sag, you may need airbags.

 

Custom-valved shocks are not going to help you with sag. Shocks don’t bear the load.

 

We are talking about beefing up the leaf springs past option 3 of ICON RXT. While the spring does bear the majority of the load, your shock also helps. Reason why a plushy suspension will sag a bit more. Try your valving upfront if you have a compression adj. If you turn it all the way to plush and drive around a bit, you will start to sag a bit and lose some of the lift.
It's not a lot, but it does still affect the overall suspension. That is why getting a properly tuned suspension is necessary for those that are sensitive to how suspensions react.
Have you seen an old rust bucket car that bounces everywhere on every bump and when they make complete stop they look like they are nose diving? You can see it sag when driver goes in and out of it? The shocks are shot, but springs are still intact. Same concept when trying to push the limit of a spring. How about suspension fade where the dampening can't hold the vehicle up on bumps any longer? Kinda the same when you add things to the back of your truck, but instead of the pressure coming from below (bumps), the pressure is coming from the top and at a constant rate.
Sure though, if you don't really care or notice the difference between suspensions, just get a higher spring rate to hold it up. If you want to get it done right, get it valved to your vehicle specification (reason why shock tuners will ask for the vehicle's weight and where those weights are).

If you want to know more about it, go into motocross forums since those are more detailed. They don't use springs because the shocks can bear all the weight, however, you have to valve it correctly or it'll sag with weight. With vehicles, it is just heavier so they add springs to carry a majority of the load with shocks assisting. Did competitive motocross and go-kart racing when I was younger so I am pretty sensitive to suspensions (among other things I think this truck needs work on) and how they are with performance, which is why I am on my 3rd set of suspension for this truck and I only had for two years.

 

Yeah, I’m not concerned about my shocks. I’m hoping to not sell my RTX pack and was curious if it can be beefed up. This is the first vehicle I’ve owned with leaf springs so I don’t know a whole lot about them

 

If the RXT pack isn’t beefy enough at option 3, you should get an airbag setup for when you carry the extra weight. Otherwise you’re better off with a custom build from Deaver or similar.

 

I went +4" lines on option 2. ADS extended travel shocks.

Definitely needed couldn't droop all the way with stock lines. Not the weak point you want

Does anyone have the rxt shock open and closed length? I’m trying to pair the Fox 2.0s with these leafs but finding info on what shocks should be used is difficult. Fox lists 0-2, and 2-3in of lift for their 2.0 series. Thinking option 2 paired with the 2-3in shock and extended brake lines is the route I wanna go. I’m planning on the wheelers u bolt flip with super bumps also.

Any tips for pairing a shock other than icon rxts?
