Thanks for all the great feedback. I’m definitely looking for the correct safety features necessary for mtn biking. But... also don’t want to look like a tool on the trail with the wrong style helmet!!! So thank you for the guidance there!

I second @113tac on the fit. I wanted either Smith or POC, but neither fit me right. Ended up with a Giro. Anything with MIPS that comes down lower in the back will be good.

Also, get the biggest visor you can find for maximum cool Enduro bro.

I went to pick up my Roscoe 8 yesterday... I’m 5’-5” and the Trek site claimed I was a medium. Turns out... I’m not. I need a small. They sold me a Roscoe 7 in a small. I hated the color but thought I could get past it. Turns out it was the women’s version! Any way... that’s a separate story. While there, they brought out a few helmets for me to try. I tried a few Bontrager helmets but didn’t like the look or feel so passed. I did try a version with the Wavecell feature which absolutely did not fit to my Mellon. So I get the fact that I need to try the helmets on.

Giro has the Radix now too for 2020 which is between the Montaro and the Fixture, price-wise.

Most sites show the sizes with head circumference listed. It's not perfect but at least better than just guessing on size. Fit will still depend on if your head is more oval or round. I'm in need of a new one as well. As for color....my current helmet (which is now like 10 years old and apparently past it's shelf life) was a discount color when I bought it. A can of black spray paint and 5 minutes fixed that. The paint actually held up really really well and you can't tell it was a DIY paint job.

I tried on the giro fixture. Fits well but the visor is very flimsy. I tried the smith venture in a small and it was too small even though measurements sau that’s what I should be wearing. Ended up with the smith venture in a medium and it fits perfect on the smallest setting. Visor is durable. Fits better than my Fox Flux from before. I think the fixture had a little more back of the head coverage than the fixture. But both cover decently. The fox flux has more back of head than both the venture and the fixture. I plan to go POC tectal spin for the next helmet.

just throwing it out there, any helmet is in style if you’re wearing it! I was between POC and Fox, and then the price for the Fox suddenly dropped 50%, so I rock that.

get a helmet with good coverage and good ventilation. Those are key, style points come 3rd for priorities.

    Who makes this rack?

Anybody else care to share what rack they are using for above the bed with both wheels still attached to the bike.
