Yes I did that on my current Tacoma. After a year or so of payments I felt I had enough payed on it that I wasn't worried about it anymore, so I went back and cancelled the GAP coverage on it. Got like 70% of what I paid back and they just applied it to the loan directly (mine is through BoA).

As was said above, USAA doesn't have GAP but they do have an add-on you can purchase which will +20% the payout if you have an insurance claim. It should be enough to cover differences in payout vs. value in the event of a total loss, especially on a Tacoma where they hold value so well.

Exactly will be paying for a year or so on the USAA CRA add on to ins then cancel, thats the game plan. Looks like I’ll stick to the dealer financing minus the GAP and go with USAA on their Car Replacement Assistant plan, not GAP but like it with the +20% coverage on top of total loss. Thank you all for the sound advices. Looking forward to sign and drive off in two weeks!

Quick update from me. I have been working with 3 dealerships over the past 3-4 weeks, and this week, 2 of the 3 dealers raised the prices on me due to "low inventory". So I decided to go into the one still offering me a decent price, but they didn't have any in stock. However, we agreed on a price and they allowed me to put a $500 deposit down on an incoming truck. Anyone have any experience with this? Hoping this works out.

This is a base truck with only weather tech floor mats and bed lighting (haggled with them to throw it in lol).

2020 TOYOTA TACOMA Double Cab TRD Off Road V6 AT (cement)
    MSRP: $38,444.00
    Discount: $4,986.60
    Rebate: $1,750.00

    Price before tax/fees: $31,707.40
    Roughly $34,332 OTD in NoVA

Decent price?? That is an unbelievable price you got! If my math is right, almost 18% off MSRP, which is pretty amazing.

Just bought my 2020 4x4 TRD off-road cement with the premium package; upgraded stereo system, moonroof, leather seats etc. Got it for a $1500 under Invoice so it I got it for 39.5k. MSRP was bout 44.5ish. At 0% interest.

w that package the tacos were all running from 44.5-46k in NJ. The lowest I seen dealers going was low 40s (42ish) esp if you wanted the 0% interest they didn’t want to discount them as much. Typical invoice In NJ on an off-road w the premium package was about 41.5k.

after speaking to a couple salesmen i know they said in this covid market a good deal would be getting the truck for invoice or $500 above. We’re also talking about Tacoma’s which are sought after and never run 0% interest. So when I got it for 1500 under invoice i was happy.

had to pay the $599 doc fee which they wouldn’t bend on but still was best deal around even w that. 40k total then taxes and tags which are unavoidable.

In Milwaukee just got a 20 TRD Sport DCLB with technology package and some other dealer add-ons for $35,600 out the door and 0% financing. Was on the fence with OR or Sport but I like the styling of the sport and want to lift the truck. I know I gave up the locking differential but I dont get real serious offroad.

@Arcteryx 79 yea that seems like a good deal msrp on that has be near 37-38?? Seems like you did well with it. Yea I got the TRD because I have no intention on lifting it so to get all the extras under neath was worth it. The sports were the same amount of $ here.

Tacomas around here never go below MSRP for current year let alone 0% finance. Couldnt pass it up. During COVID the deals are unreal.

@Arcteryx 79 agreed. I still have / had my First generation 04 w 230k miles on the beast. I planned on running that for another 2-3yrs before I got myself a new truck but I knew I’d be saving way more $ doing it now w the prices and 0%.

    treat yoself

I paid my $500 deposit the other day to secure a Tacoma from Texas for transfer up to Oklahoma, I’ll be seeing it in two weeks. You got a great deal there though, congrats!

Yea it seems like 5k off of msrp is not outside of the ordinary or 1k under invoice right now. Think if your paying more much more over invoice even w 0% interest your not getting the best deal.

Forgot to mention my sister was putting down a deposit for 4RUNNER TRD PRO which they wouldn't budge on. So, we leveraged her deal to get the Tacoma cheaper. They also spent more than 2 hrs trying to find a truck, but they couldn't. Apparently the one i put a deposit on is in production with a date of 5/19 (whatever that means). They said the truck should be here by end of this month/early June.

For those asking about dealership, I worked with AutoNation. Ourisman gave me an OTD of roughtly $36,500 compared to $35,000 2 weeks ago. They said the inventory was limited so price increased. Koons gave me a price of $34,900 2-3 weeks ago, but when I reached out to the sales person again, he straight up told me to get it from somewhere else lol.

I'll keep you guys posted, hopefully everything goes through.

I bought my 2020 Tacoma SR5 4 cyl, 2.7 Access cab for $26,127.04 total price, brand new from a dealer here in Oregon about 2 months ago-- right before the Covid lockdown. I think it's really hard for dealers to sell the 2wd versions up here (which is why I got such a good deal) because everyone wants 4x4 in Oregon. I added the step ramps, a bed liner, and getting my tonneau cover soon.truck.jpg

Here's what a base TRD OR DCSB goes for around here. You can get 0% financing too depending on the dealer. The busier dealers wont give you 0% as they are still moving trucks.
