I think I’m going to get a smittybilt. Have read good things about the harbor freight winches but I’m not sure about how I feel buying a winch from there.

Yea, I’d stay away from their winches. My wife’s Jeep has a Smittybilt on it and I’ve used it a ton. It has held up great. Go with synthetic rope. SO much nicer than cable.

I've got a Harbor Freight and have used it maybe 4 times. The kickers on the HF winch is the price, for one, and the duty cycle for their 12k winch. Compare the numbers of the HF 12k winch to any winch you're looking at and it's likely a better performer and cheaper. Longer run times under load could be critical at some point. The only drawback is build quality, at least for mine and they have revamped 2-3 times since I bought mine. I had to clock it to fit my Elite bumper and once I had the sides off I realized it was just a crappy paper gasket for weatherproofing. So out came the silicone caulk and I sealed it up. Wires are kind of weeny so I bought the big assed set of jumper cables and used them as leads to the solenoid box and to the winch. Box was routed under hood up high since I had plenty of wire.

New to this thread. Located in Hernando (Desoto Co.) Thought I'd drop a line and say hello! I've got a 16 TRD Sport DCSB 4x4. Bought her used, but it's the truck I've always wanted. And Hotty Toddy!

I see that good looking blue taco has a PACE motors decal. Did you buy it from there in Hattiesburg?

Yes (and no). I was browsing through Carfax for a 4Runner (which is what I had originally set out to get). I couldn't find one that I REALLY liked. I browsed the Tacomas, found it, and bough it from Pace.

The "no" part of this equation is I met them in Madison, did paperwork there, and they took my old truck. It was a halfway between Oxford (where I was living at the time) and Hattiesburg.

    Gotcha.

We bought the misses a regular YukonXL from there years ago. Interesting niche the owner has actually. He buys most at auction from around the country. 95% arrive all factory. He has a few ASE mechanics that install the lift kits, bolt ons, and wheels. Because of this all factory warranty is retained. He then turns around and sells the OEM parts online and recoups the money spent on the lifts/wheels since OEM parts are usually more expensive. He also ships trucks all over the country. I've passed by before and he'll have one car hauler offloading stockers and another loading modded ones up. If he doesn't have exactly what you want then he will find it. Don't like Rough Country or SuperLift or the brand of wheels, not a problem. Tell him what you want and they'll order it. Have a set of wheels already, bring them down.

They are straight up people, too. I would not hesitate to purchase another vehicle from them again.
