Didn't know the best forum to choose for this, but I am looking into purchasing a toolbox for my 08 tacoma. 2wd and 4 cylinder. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best place to purchase one or a specific brand they have enjoyed. Most importantly one that will fit.

Lowe’s carries Craftsman on the shelf. Tractor Supply Company has a couple different brandson the shelf. And depending on where you’re located, I have one for sale. Message me directly if interested in mine. It’s a Kobalt from Lowe’s.

I got my craftsman at Lowe’s. Open box so it was missing the J hook bolts. Bought dee zee toolbox hooks from Amazon anyway. It’s been pretty good even off road.

That looks nice on a short bed.

But how did you secure it? It looks like it is just setting on the wheel wells.

In those pictures it was not mounted yet. I drilled three holes thru the back panel and used bolts threaded into t-nuts that fit into the factory tie down rail. I also installed a strip of high density foam canopy tape between box and tie down rail to seal holes. There is also two layers of the same foam tape between the bottom of the box and wheel wells to prevent where on the fiberglass.

Most any midsize truck tool box will fit. Dimensions usually aren’t an issue if you get midsize box.

I believe mine is a DeeZee, not sure of the model as I bought it maybe 10 years ago from Pepboys. It's been used on 3 different trucks including this one.
