Took the wifey out for her first ride on her new bike (TY Decoy 29). It definitely accomplished its goal, which was to help her keep up on the climbs and ride longer. She was cleaning tech climbs, long grinds, and rocky slippery sections on the way up. Really amazing what the extra power can do to help. She was already a good rider with good technique, just lacked the power and endurance since she doesn't go that often.
Now with the new ride, she's so stoked to go more and I'm sure her power and endurance will start to grow as well. I'm going to try and get on this thing a few times, maybe for a few longer rides, to see how much it can extend my riding as well as how it handles.
The new breed of e-bikes are something else.

She cleared this uphill like a boss, no problem.

I was an idiot and the 20% off coupon auto applied on some MTB gloves for me. Meant to save it for a second order when I bought some native sunglasses. Didn't notice it until it was too late.

Well NBD hasn’t happened yet. Trek along with everyone else are just trying to keep up with the demand. I’ll be flying most of the week so it may have to wait till this next weekend. :annoyed: However the wx was beautiful this weekend in the southeast so we got some riding in.

I've been watching REI... their inventory on helmets is pretty light at the moment. I am torn between the POC Tectal Race Spin and the FOX Speedframe Pro. Just noticed the 20% off on the POC site as well today which may seal the deal.

They are spendy but if I cracked mine today, I'd have a new one just like it by the end of the week.

Not the type of biking most of us do but I got some cool shots of my wife on the track yesterday morning.

I wear the Raid knee pads. They are stout as hell and of quality construction. If you do lots and lots of miles I might recommend the speed knee sleeve.

the raid are clearly better for protection, but I'd say the speed better for airflow? how do the raid do for airflow to you, and would the speed be adequate for protection?

I'm still kind of an e-bike hater, but I have to admit the new ones seem pretty slick. Also, a buddy described it to me kinda like you just did...basically that they allow you to just do more. I suppose I can get behind that concept.

Wife and I went over to a nice spot this Sunday that we thought would be quiet. It was mobbed! This parking lot has been empty every other time I've ridden this area...

This is all highly subjective. I tried on both and the raids just fit my legs better and they had a strap for adjustment. I'm sure the speeds probably have better airflow than the raids but the second you put a knee pad you are going to sweat. I wear raids here in Colorado and they do not bother me at all but I do get a little sweaty. I can live with the trade off and I also do not wear them on every single ride. Hell if I were you I'd order both and send back the ones you didn't like. I think REI is doing curbside service in Huntsville now.

yeah I'll have to check on it, they've allowed retail stores to open up at 50% capacity here so may be able to just go.

I'd only wear them on rides here at Monte Sano most likely since it is just so unbelievably rocky
