The plastic wire loom cover on the drives side was completely destroyed.
I removed ALL of the remaining original factory plastic harness on the drivers side.
I bought a 5 foot section of aftermarket wire loom and wrapped it with the Tesa tape.
Make sure the new wire loom fits in the new loom bracket
Passenger side I wrapped the old original plastic loom, that’s why they look different

I know its been a while since this was posted originally. Do you happen to remember approximately how much tape it took to do this? Amazon has a 5 pack but I can't see needing near that much, but don't want to get in the middle and run out either if I just buy one roll.

They use to sell them in 2 packs. Someone must be trying to move product.

Well enough when snugly fitted in there. I just had to get more creative when installing a one way valve on my iac for the super charger but not an issue that can’t be worked around. I don’t think 1/2 would work.

It’s been running since last April :anonymous:

Ran into a high idle issue apparently it needed the O2 sensors to idle properly (exhaust wasn't hooked up), solved that in 7/19 and hopefully fab work / other loose ends will be tied up in a few weeks so it can drive on the street.

I'll be tackling this taping project in a day or so. I've already got the VCs off and have been adjusting my shims. That stupid plastic heat shield on the driver side decided to crack into some pieces while I'm working on the shims. I've already had to fish out a small plastic shard out of the valve area. :annoyed: I'm lucky I saw where that plastic nightmare went when it broke off. Anyway, now I'm freaking out because I'm about to button the VCs back up, and I'm terrified that there might be some other little plastic shards that broke off in the valve area that I didn't see to fish out. I'm gonna look around in there as thoroughly as I can before I reinstall the VCs....
BUT does anybody have any brilliant suggestions of how to make sure I don't have any stragglers in the valve area before I button this engine back up? I've even thought to stick my shop vac crevice tool into the valve area and try to suck up anything that might be lingering where it shouldn't be (I'm sure this will take up some of the oil too and i'll have to top that off before running the truck). Ugh. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. What will happen if there is a little bit of plastic left in there? Dang it, I knew I should have just left that PITA valve clearance stuff well enough alone. Thanks!

Get a bright flashlight and a pick and inspect all the places one could be hiding.

Yeah, I already did that as best as I could. I'll likely getter a brighter light and do it once more, for good measure. Also, I figure any tiny little schrapnel that could remain would just get obliterated by the engine or just end up in the oil drain pan and cause no harm. This is my first time doing any engine work, so I'm sure i'm more nervous about it than is necessary. Thanks!

Did you ever figure out the correct bolt size? I am missing all of them.

Anyone know the part number for the plastic heat shield bolts? Previous owner had VC gaskets replaced, and the mechanics didn't put those bolts back in for the (now broken) heat shield.

I've looked at parts diagrams for the VCs but can't figure out which bolt it is.

Looking to do a VC replacement job and will use the Tesa tape & clamps to repair wiring, but first need to get those bolts for the clamps.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their good ideas & experiences with this!

I will say it probably won't be in the parts diagram for valve covers
Perhaps check in the electrical wiring and harness section that has clamps and hardware :notsure:
I tried to look it up quickly but am having issues connecting to the parts page I frequent arghhh
