I don’t have a budget in mind but didn’t want to go full retard off the gate. I’m used to .308s.. no AR and no trigger time with a 5.56, so leaving some room for the idea that I might not like what I end up with.

Hoping I love it, but completely unknown waters for me in every single way.

    you will be juuuust fine.

i could tell you how, long slim handguards are great, get that arm way out there and drive the rifle. That so & so makes the latest and greatest muzzle brake, and whos your daddy has a sweet trigger.

but theres 5million other dudes with similar and varying opinions.

You really get to make it what you want... and what you want may change as you start to shoot that particular rifle more. You might start to go "ya know, i dont ever stick my hand that far out, i could lose 2" off my handguard and save some weight"

or "I shoot alot from the bench, never offhand, maybe the weight isnt so bad"

personally, instead of changing my rifles i just end up building a new one lol (up until 2016 anyways, now my building hobby is on the back burner until i leave)

the world is your oyster, the rifle your barbie doll.

My mental goal is a combat accurate short range (200 yards max) defensive weapon, with red dot optic, likely a Holosun.

B -> Z is fuzzy, but at least A is paid for.

Ordered an Aero LPK, BCM Gunfighter SOPMOD stock/buffer assy and Gunfighter Mod 3 grip. Also ordered a LaRue MBT2S trigger.

At least in a few weeks when my lower is out of jail it’ll have some new clothes to wear.

The cool thing about 223/5.56 NATO is the weak AF felt recoil. You don't have to shoulder it like you would a traditional rifle, across the chest.

if you're wearing body armor, to use it effectively, you need to stand straight toward your target. if you stand sideways, though you'll have a narrower silhouette, a hit would mean it would go right through you. through both kidneys, your liver, your heart, both lungs, or your spine.

If you're wearing a chest rig to hold your mags, then it doesn't matter since you have no armor protection.

A battle belt with 1-2 rifle mags and a couple of pistol mags is the lightest setup you can run.

Also w/ this in mind, the Gunfighter Mod 3 grip, for example is more vertical, which supports a more oblique stance.

Makes more sense now. I have not looked into this.

I was looking for something similar to 1911 angle, was on the fence between that and a Magpul MOE K2.

So, if I read this correctly, if I haven't purchased a firearm while at my current address I have to pay 19 DOLLARS every time I buy ammo?

Or go buy a new gun.

$19 just the first time if you haven't bought anything since 2015. Every time after that I believe it's $1.99. About the cost of a Taco Supreme + Tax.

Driver's license alone is ok for ammo if you've been in the system recently since 2015.

P320’s nice, you have to find one for sale on the secondary market so they will be more expensive since the dumb Ca “safe handgun roster”.

True. But, the guns are registered to me, not my house. Idiotic requirements.

It says $19 PER transaction. Could just be a misleading graphic. And Drivers License ok if it is the REAL ID. I'll just go buy another gun. It's been over 5 years since I bought one, so I'm due.

It says "is best for those who have not made a qualifying purchase or current info doesn't match the AFS Record".

    It applies to you if:

    1. The Address in your AFS record is different from your current address
    2. You have not made a qualifying purchase (No firearms related purchases in ammo or firearms themselves since 2015)
