There’s an older fella down the street that has a ‘69 bus with the perfect license plate: “69”. Couldn’t get away with that shit these days. Looks like he was a surfer back in the day too from the bumper stickers. I’ll snag a pic of it next time I pass it but it hasn’t moved in years. Stubborn old coot probably wouldn’t sell it either.

Haha!! Sounds about right!! CA DMV is super up tight these days. I'll be there one day! definitely snag a pic when you get the chance. Never had a 69' bus but my 68' squareback was probably my favorite, most versatile VW! Paint job was shit but body and drivetrain were clean as fuck and it was fun to drive AND camp in. 100% would buy another if I could find one.

A beetle was my dream car since I was a kid. Never had one but the closest I got was a buddy letting me drive his home because he cold my drive stick. Haha. My neighbor has a 2003- one of the last ones produced from the Mexico plant. MX plates and everything. Clean and stock. I want it but he won’t sell either.

I’ll buy you a case of beer if you let adjust my Kings or let me come by and use that after covid dies down. I got ripped off by the local shop to have mine adjusted.

I didn’t measure the rear but it’s sitting higher.

For sure man. That's exactly why I got it. Places around here charge over $100 just to remove springs. Its crazy!

Although, you should be able to adjust them on the truck.

I've got the spanners for Icons and Kings you could borrow. All you really need is a big hole punch that fits really

Yeah so i’ve heard a 5/16 punch is what everyone uses, but it didn’t fit in all the way, do you think it’d be fine if i just grind down the punch till it fits all the way in the hole?

King LITERALLY just gives you a punch, icon has an actual spanner. You can definitely just find something at the hardware store that will work as long as it fits. You dont want to round the holes out. I use the icon spanner on everything I adjust (when on the vehicle) because if feels "safer" for the top collar. :notsure:

I have this kit from HF and use them to adjust Fox shocks regularly. Can’t beat it for $9. Use their coupon to get it even cheaper.

Make sure you leave the Allen bolt facing out if you adjust them off of truck. So you can adjust them on the truck....otherwise your pulling coilover to get to the Allen head bolt on the lock ring.

Harbor freight punch and wd40 gets it done.

Sweet! I have an idea where that spot is :D

I’m glad to hear it’s up here. Now we just have to pick a good day to ride some waves, load the boards, and Go.

seriously man!! Next swell hit me up!!

Just need to figure out my cold start problems i'm having with the bus. It's got to be the starting jets being clogged or not set properly, the timing is way off cause it fires up just fine once its warmed up. Haven't worked on VWs in a while though! :anonymous:

I could never get the shocks adjusted on my old Tacoma. Didn’t feel like dealing with the hassle on the turd gen and it takes 20 mins to pull the coil overs now so it’s not bad. Granted I scratched the kings a bit putting them in

I am camping on Mt. Pinos the weekend of June 19-21. Maybe hitting the trails at Gorman on that Saturday. Anyone interested?

I’ll keep watching for when we get a swell. Things have been busy on my end so, if you happen to learn of some decent waves before me, feel free to let me know. I really could use some time out in the ocean.
