What are you paying for 2020 Tacomas?

Unfortunately newer used models don't really save you that much money in the grand scheme of things. I was looking at a used 2019 for roughly the same trim/packages for $32,101 sales price; a new model with no miles was $34,800. For the 2.5k extra, I thought the new was more worth it. Plus, I get a lower interest rate so even less than that 2.5k in the grand scheme of things.

So if you have the extra 4k, I'd go with the new especially since it's a higher trim. If you plan on offroading/want to have the ability to use CRAWL control, then you should go with the 2020 OR. If you don't care about the small changes from 19 to 20 and for the OR features, I'd go with the used.

More than likely, you're not gonna budge much on the used vehicle price though. There's been mixed reports about whether dealers are budging or not, but from what I have experienced in my area, they aren't "great" deals on used cars. You have more flexibility in price with the new ones.

 

@sharkdude100 I think your better off with the TRD OR. It will probably qualify for 0% finance. If it's an SR5 you really set on getting you could probably find one for a couple grand more and 0% for a 2020.

Right now is the time to buy. You may have to travel a little. But work the deal over the phone.

I agree on the buying new for Tacos. Normally you take a big hit on newer cars, but tacos and 4runners seem to be the exception due to their high resale and desirability. After you factor in the higher APR, your really not saving much money in the end for an older truck.

few questions is Cement really rare and demand full price or is the dealer really BSimg me .

seems like reading this thread that other regions are getting better deals than us in California.

 

California always has the shit deals especially in Socal, yes cement is in demand so stock is very limited especially the base model 4x4 Off road. If you want a cement prepare to pay a pretty penny for a fully loaded one. Ive been looking for a base 4x4 OR in white in socal with no luck, even the ones with tech package and navi is getting hard to find at a decent price.

 

I wish there would be some kind of standard packages , every dealer adds all kinds of add ons and pricing is all over the place.

 

Yeah,I'll echo the above comments for SoCal. I even went to Vegas and the offer was _FULL_ MSRP! I was looking for MGM 4x4 TRD OR DCSB. Very flexible on the options and still no joy. I was pushing on two deals and both trucks sold two weeks ago. Cement was also a non-starter for making deals. I'm gonna hang on and see how things pan out in in July/Aug or even Dec. Several Toyota sales guys mentioned that factory will be up in July/Aug, but you know... I've never met a salesman that lied to me before!

 

I got my 2020 TRD off-road DCSB for $35k and some change. $4750 below MSRP. Purchased on April 10th in Colorado Springs, CO. MSRP was a little over $41,000 I’m happy with it.

 

is that Toyota of El Cajon? I was disappointed the dealers aren’t negotiating too much..I’m probably going to wait to buy at the end of the year when the 2021’s are out.

 

@Arcteryx 79 discounts on 0% can be pulled off but you depends how many toyota dealers are around in your state I think to leverage it. I had about 5 dealers all within 40min of one another max.

i got a 2020 full loaded premium package cement trd 4x4 off road. MSRP was about 44,500. I got it for 39,500 @ 0%.
+599 doc fee
+taxes and tags about $3,500

I have a Friend who sells cars. He said right now paying invoice or $500 above invoice would be a realistic Good deal to get even at 0%.

so I called up and said “I know someone who sells cars, and I’m not trying to hurt anyone but I’m trying to get the best deal I can obviously and he said I should be paying Invoice for the truck so that’s what I’m looking for. I’m just calling the local dealers seeing what they can do for me.” paraphrasing slightly.

He said if you want the 0% I can’t get you to invoice of $41,500ish. I said ok so what’s the best you can do? He asked you gonna buy today? I said yes if the numbers are good. Then He said ok 39,500 with the doc fee $599. I said ok that’s about $1200 or so under invoice lol.
Couldn’t beat the price. Negotiated the whole thing over the phone in about 2min

 

This would be a good deal for someone who wants leather and doesn’t mind getting a 2019. Only 1,500 miles. I imagine this would be around a $10,000 savings

Yes, I would be very wary of investing that much on a vehicle with a salvage title. My daughter once had an accident and the insurance company attempted to repair it even though it was close to being totaled off. The car was almost new ($19k purchase price) it was 15k to fix, they never did get it right, and after we rejected it three times, they wrote it off. The car looked brand new, but it had a shimmy that was intermittent, depending on speed and terrain, I was told that when this happens they sell them at auction. Buyer beware, to me 10k is not a bargain for a vehicle that will be very hard to sell down the road, even if it was a successful repair.
