Also does anyone know what AWG size wires are that are connected on the pig tail for the 4wd ECU? I want to buy extra wires to extend some of those wires but want to make sure they are identical and not mess anything up. I think they are 2 different sizes if I remember correctly. Thanks again!

When you extend an electrical circuit depending on what it is and how far it's moved could change the size of the wire required. Wire size is determined by the size of the load (amps) and how far it needs to go. You won't go wrong with thicker wire, but just how thick is determined by its use. Because I've measured the amps used by the locker any time mod I can say 16 gauge stranded wire is nuclear over kill for what you need. (it's what I used) The thing I don't know about is the FJ T-case mod. IMHO you only need to buy one gauge of wire for sufficient for the heaviest load.

I contacted Rock solid toys and asked what gauge they used for the conversion and relay mod also. They said they used 18awg. So I think that’s what I’m going with especially since you said the 16awg was overkill. Thanks for the help! I’m going to ordering all the supplies and relay and diodes today. Hopefully everything goes well and follow rule # 1!

New to this page and the locker anytime mod! I have also done the fj tcase swap and have the 4wd ECU unplugged/wired for the ADD switch. Just for clarification, can you do this mod without the harnesses plugged back in to the ECU? Seems like this mod tricks the ECU into thinking it's in 4low, which in my noobish eyes signifies that the harness still needs to be plugged back in for communication.

    I do not think so.
If you dont plug it back in then how would everything communicate?

My thoughts exactly. I know people have figured out how to wire switches for both the rear dif lock and ADD, but I cant really find much information on the wiring for the dif lock after the ADD switch is wired. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Question about this mod.

I don't need a new switch for this right? It just piggybacks off the stock rear locker switch and opens it up to be used anytime, vs just in 4LO?

Also seems the ETSY seller is on pause rn, is that OP? if so, are there any Diode Relays left?

You are correct that you don't need a new switch for your dash.

And, yes I'm the etsy seller too. I'll be reopening the store again when I get a new supply of relays. With all this stuff happening I have no idea what shipping times look like. When things were normal it could take weeks. We will see.

Are you not located within the USA or North America?

If you have any relays left and are willing to sell now, I'd be interested in buying, but if you wanna wait I understand too. Can also provide a FedEx label for shipping if that might help.

EDIT: NVM misread the quoted post, you're out of supplies. Please let me/us know when you have em back!

hey @Murfalicious so yes it works. I’m in the process of doing the fj case swap. I did all electrical aspects of the swap. I just need to install the t case and fab the shifter up. So back to your question, I wired the add switch (RST website instructions) and left the plug disconnected of course. The power wire in the plug should be your source of power for your ADD switch. T tap that wire which is the same wire that is mention in this thread. In my understanding, The relay makes the Rear diff locker switch work and it engages and disengages it from that point. You are bypassing the 4wd ecu. The main reason why every one else has to plug it back in is because they still need the ecu to work for there electriconic 4wd shifting.. because we deleted that aspect we don’t need the ecu. That is my understanding of it.. but as for my situation with my truck it worked I heard everything engaged but I haven’t tested it offroad yet. And also I think I should mention I didn’t use a diode. And everything worked.

@Murfalicious Also sorry late response I didn’t get notification that you replied back. Since you said your new here, you should check out this link https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lets-see-your-fj-case-swap.455278/page-50
there’s a few guys that know a lot more about this t case swap for the Tacoma’s than I do. And they probably have a different way to wire up the rear diff locker. I just found this mod the easiest way and it seems to work so far. im hoping to actually test it Offroad once my project is finished. As of right now I’m stuck in prerunner mode lol

Well boys, we're back in business again - the Etsy shop is open
    https://www.etsy.com/listing/531263976/12vdc-dpdt-relay-with-flyback-diode

I was able to score some relays from the US. (still made in China, but without the 6-8 week lead time) I've got a bigger order coming literally on a slow boat, hopefully I've guessed the demand correctly.

No worries and thank you for the info! I've lurked on that forum for a while now and couldnt find much on the rear locker after the ADD switch is wired up. Already have the tcase in and the ADD switch wired up, last thing I need is the locker workin again! I appreciate it!

The slow boat carrying the relays has arrived. Short of a crazy run on this mod I should be good to go from here on out. I made a quick video on my new relay test rig. Check it out
