I would set up camp sites ahead of time. In NC they are only taking reservations for instate people.

I quite literally didn't read past the first post, but a podcast will help keep you occupied. I recommend "Stuff you should know". There's a decade of episodes and it'll keep you entertained for the entire trip if you choose.

This is the one post in the thread that I can't hit the "like" button on...

I can't thank you enough Rob for your gracious offer of hospitality. The kindness from you and all the folks who have taken the time to respond over the last few days has blown me away.

    Mornin' Harry,
In the last 3 years that I've been a member, the camaraderie and support for one another has been nothing short of amazing. I have a long history with all sorts of forums. This one though never ceases to amaze me. Earlier when I said you're not alone I was implying how the need for help can be any type, and can be by anyone. From a situation like yours to a situation like I recently experienced when my previous Tacoma was totaled. The outpouring of help I received was staggering. This is why I am compelled to give back. Perhaps when the time comes you'll be inclined to do the same for someone down the line.

You did receive some great responses so you need to weed through them and decide which ones are going to actually help you. Maybe they all will in some way.

    My offer stands though.
    Rob

Lies. You know you read them all. Also, what about those of us that know everything? Is there a "Enlighten others that need to know stuff" podcast we can call in on?

I would hit Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks but you'll need to see if they are open I'd add in Acadia NP in Maine before going home. If I did it the way I like, it would take a month to get there. I love solo trips. You can make the day what you like and operate on your own time table and with your own sound track. Enjoy the drive and the solitude, you may discover something you like in all of this.

I cant really add much in terms of the road trip other than confirming that 9 days will be easier than 5.

Also, your tire pressures looks oddly low in the first picture (maybe its just the picture..?) But it would be a good idea to check them before hitting the road. MPG and wear should improve

    Too many.
My son and I will be doing the same trip at the end of the month. He turned 21 at boot camp and is now being stationed in DC.

I’m hoping to make this a trip
To remember. Evening enjoying some whiskey on the way.

We will be driving his 2012 Tacoma TRD across so maybe we will even have time to kick in the 4WD.

Ive done Seattle/Missoula Go Grizz to maine ( Belfast ) six times round trip.....done I90, hwy2/90, I 90/15/70/95, trans Canada hwy......take all the regular/safety gear for a road trip.....stop when you want too....take side trips if time allows or make time life is to short.....there's plenty to see out there and I've only seen a fraction of what's on my bucket list
Most of all have fun its only time and stop for fuel don't wait for the next exit trust me.....oh and if you see people parked under a over pass getting out of the weather follow....look forward there's nothing to see in the rearview mirror

Just went through a rough breakup two weeks ago and I'm hitting the road solo for a few weeks once I can take some time off work. I know what it feels like..

I'd say take your time and enjoy the scenery. I first planned on a week but realized with so many people staying at home, roads and camp spots are emptier and I can stay out longer. Just make sure all the trip prep stuff is done and make a rough plan with backup spots just in-case things don't work out.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Read through the thread, I feel ya, man. I ended up moving across the world to reset myself after some similarly difficult times. Sometimes it's just what ya need to get your head screwed on right.
That's how I ended up here in Maine and am waaaay better for it. Feel free to post up or PM me once you're up here, I'd be happy to meet up and maybe hit some trails. I haven't done nearly enough exploring since getting my taco.
I'm also a pilot, if you wanna lift your spirits a few thousand feet and see your stomping grounds from the air lol.
Either way, hope you enjoy the hell outta your trip!

Hmmmm, do I suspect we could add air routes to our already famous TW Express ground service?
