I took a trip this past Sunday down to Virginia and picked up some cool shit.



A pair of new 14" 700# coils. A set of 10k mile leafs with the AAL. A SS Pelfry Built battery cage. The coils were $100, the rest was free.

The coils and AAL will be perfect once I add some armor, especially since I have a cap. The battery cage will definitely come in handy when I upgrade my battery or go to duals for the future solar setup.

 

Anyone in need of a 285/70-17 spare tire?

Yea, I happened in there about a week ago and saw this stuff late one night and immediately snatched it up. I'm hoping the suspension change nets me some lift but more importantly eliminates any sag from the future armor mods and cargo loads. I don't care how rough it rides. It's a truck.

Yeah, members of the NOVA thread. The free stuff they just wanted it gone. I'll need longer U bolts for the leafs to make them work, and the battery cage has a design flaw where it uses regular bolts to hold the top down to the bottom half. It means that you would need to use a open end wrench to tighten them because the heads of the bolts are too close to the top half for a socket. I'm going to simply replace the regular bolts with some allen head cap bolts. Those are round on the top, and will fit fine and allow me to use a ratchet with a allen socket. Or maybe get fancy and get some 12 point cap screws.

I believe it would but you need to ask an expert, and I am not that guy. There are so many factors involved with suspension upgrades. I mean, I am pushing the limit with 14" 700# springs but I also have the Fox 2.5 setup now. I plan on removing as much preload as possible and will try to avoid needing new UCA's. I am not doing any of this until I get a front armored bumper and a winch, and put a larger or second battery in the engine bay. I'm also adding sliders as soon as they are completed.

If I wasn't ultimately doing all that I would not consider these springs. Even with all that they will still be on the firm side of things.
