I have seen ads for products that I post here start popping up on FB. I'm reasonably certain they are scraping content from this site for advertisements.

 

When I started using a VPN all that tracking and retail suggestions stopped.

 

I use a VPN also. I rotate my location around the country. It's good security to hide behind a NAT.

I got an ad for a cat product for the first time ever like 3 days after this stray moved in

 

because you took photos of it and you have apps on your phone that you give permission to access your photo galleries, almost all of them ask for that

 

Or you have an Android phone and used Gboard to type about it in text messages and forum posts. Or used Google search

 

Somehow managed to finish college today. Guess thats kinda neat.

 

There's really no way around it lol. If you use a smart phone or any form of social media etc. I don't really obsess about it like some people do, if advertisers want to try and show me things I might be interested in, so be it. Hell maybe I'll even actually find something interesting. Anything ridiculous I just delete and they usually don't come back.

Its kind of surreal haha. No ceremony or anything. Just a "good luck" from my professor.

Also turned 21 yesterday so its been a good week so far.
