I bought $100 bits of AMZN, GOOG, HD, and ZG today. Long term holds.

AMZN needs to do a big split, like 10:1. I know it's pointless and value is the same, but a lot of people with a few hundred bucks in their account might buy AMZN if shares were cheaper. I can't buy partial shares, and won't be accumulating over $2k for a share. I might jump in and buy at random times at $200 though.

Yeah that's exactly why I opened up a Fidelity account. I now own 0.04 shares of AMZN

I use Merrill and can't buy partial shares. If you turn on DRIP, it will buy partial shares, no idea why they won't let you just buy them.

FWIW it only took me a short amount of time to open my Fidelity account.. but I already have other investment portfolios through them so everything is fairly consolidated with the exception of WeBull for short term trading

This will never happen again. Once they realized that volatility was caused my lower share prices giving the every day traders access to big companies they decided there is no benefit to splitting to reduce share price. They want insane prices and institutional buys and sells...It's to reduce volatility

I never thought of that, makes sense though. People aren't flipping BRK.A, because they can't!

what platform do you use to trade options? I been trading stocks for the past 20 years. But I am looking into dabbling into options.

Anyone have any thoughts on CAR or the rental car industry in general?

I apparently sold nail a day early this time..
I bought both htz and Car last week. Assuming a small percent of people that would normally fly will rent a car instead for a short time. And they were both cheap. So we will see.

As a rental car company I LOVE HERTZ...they are amazing...as an investment...I don't know. I have been with them for years and only rent a few times a year but their GOLD+ status and AAA discounts make it a no brainer. I was in Miami in Feb getting back from a cruise and we had 8 hours to kill between our cruise ending and our flight. Why waste a day in Miami. They wanted like $10 a bag at the "bag drop" and then on top of that you have uber/taxi etc...Or you could do the hop on/hop off tour for like $50 a person. I said hold my beer..I hopped on Hertz, with a AAA discount and rented an SUV for the day (to store all our bags) and drove to south beach, had lunch...It was unfortunate that there was some Wine festival so it was packed and we lost time to traffic and searching for parking...but still it was a lot better than sitting in an airport or in traffic on a bus...and then trying to hoof it back to the airport. $46 BUCKS!

Well I just checked the price on HTZ...might have to buy some now.

I just use the built in options platform in TD ameritrade. It use to be Scottrade which i LOVED...I don't like the TD Layout as much but I'm getting used to it like a grumpy man

Htz is on bankruptcy watch, so it’s an interesting play.

For rental to PHX, I prefer SIXT. For the price of a compact, I'd had Benz CLA and GLA's, as well as a few Volvo's and a Jag XE. :burnrubber:

E-Trade. I was with Options House but they got bought out a few years ago by E-Trade. The new platform is actually better all the way around.

We all gonna be rollin' in our HERTZ dough!
I've never tried them. They usually have comparable rates, but the HERTZ experience of in and out, no need to even go to the counter. Your name is on the board, take a car, go...and the return is just as easy. I've had nothing excellent customer service. Also I was in CA at LAX once and needed a BIG trunk car for a wheelchair and the woman at the desk pulls up her inventory and just says "Run and grab the keys to that car right now, it was a really nice Chrysler 300 leather/sport...She knew it had the biggest trunk in the fleet. Set us up at the ridiculous rate I already had...and we had the handicapped placard for LA which made parking a breeze. My kid was like "Why can't we bring grandma on every trip" :)
