Nice job. I have some sound deadening mat left over from when I deadened my doors three years ago. Does the back of the Ex-cab made a nice difference?

Yes I notice a difference. I’ve got some more coming tomorrow and I’m doing all the doors and roof.

Cool. Thanks. Pulling the headliner sounds pretty involved. Just a youtube video away I suppose. ;)

@JBTacoma got around to pulling the boots off. Goodness it’s messy. Anyway looks like the inner joint needs to be replaced on this axle? Not sure if it’s supposed to look like that. Axle was at 115k.

Hmm, making me think I need to take a look at mine sometime.

BTW, I read all the way through this entire over the past few days. I'm glad to see I'm not the only 3rz. It also motivated me to dip my rear bumper. :) Thanks.

Lol I told you to have plenty of towels.
What is wrong with it? The bearings are suppose to wobble side to side. As long as they spin free and the needle bearings are not falling out they are good. Get a Scotch-Brite pad and clean the rust off the outer race.

That's good to hear. I think Brian's referring to the rust spots on the outer races. I suspect the spots are surface rust from not having grease on that surface.

He shows you how to do the boot slide mod too if you want to do it. It stretches the boot out so the fins don't rub, some people do it and some don't.
