Agreed. You don’t want to get cheesecake goo in another person’s stab wound... he could get an infection.

    Stock. SR5 Package #2.

My Dad would have been the one to ask.
He would have said...no big deal. :notsure:

My Mom's take was far more interesting...
She was a city girl (grew up in Birmingham, AL).
They had all that newfangled stuff, plus, yes... a maid.
Very different times back then in the South...

    Story time. :)

So my Mom arrives at the farm as a newlywed to meet the in-laws.
(My parents met at Maxwell Field, AL, when my Dad was in pilot training. Mom was a secretary there.)
    Anyway...
After all the introductions, she asks to use the bathroom.
    Great Aunt Clara says:
"Oh, I gotta go too, come on, I'll show you."

You know what's coming, don't you?

It was a two hole privy.

So the changes came thick and fast.
The farmhouse already had electricity (sorta...lights), but no indoor plumbing.
First came a water pump in the spring house and water heater in the basement...for laundry.
    Then a proper bathroom.
Then upgraded electric and some appliances like a washing machine, fridge and a huge freezer...and a TV.

[When I came along, there was still a hand pump in the kitchen sink.
And a wood fired stove...plus a coal furnace.]

The breaking point came when I was 10.
I never got the straight story, but I can imagine how it went:
"I've had it, I'm out. You can either stay here or come too."

So Dad rented out the farm and we lived in Veterans' Housing at Penn State for a while.
For the rest of his working life he was an inspector for the PA Department of Agriculture.
You know the old saying about Poachers making the best Game Wardens?

Some people just can't adapt to farm life.
It's a lot easier if you're born to it. :notsure:

Dad always told my brother and I if we hadn’t been born boys we wouldn’t have had anything to play with. My brother missed being a girl by an inch is what he told him as well.

Neighbors always water their grass. Even while it’s raining and when it’s rained all day and lastnight, tonight, and the next two days. Make sure it’s watered is their policy.
