sorta cross posting here....If anybody hears of a dedicated winter tire flavor in either the 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 sizes (looking at you, Nokian and Bridgestone), let us know. Sounds like there are quote a few of us on this thread that love their ST Maxx in the summer but have to downsize in the winter....

Anyone running km3’s? My 255 85 16 km2s have 55,000 miles. Might get another set of those but am curious if the km3s have less road noise.

Hey man! Nice looking truck! What did you have to do exactly to be able to fit those size bfgs on your stock trd OR rims? Im looking to do the same setup.

I’ve been trying to find a definitive answer looking through this thread, what sizes can you run on 16” or 17” without a lift/chop?

Tires are definitely in the budget right now, lift&chop not so much.

Edit: Sorry I meant to add on stock 2nd gen sport or OR rims.

Others will chime in with more knowledge than I but 235/85R16's fit on stock suspension with no rub for sure. 255/85R16s or 255/80R17s will most likely rub without a lift. Not sure on the 255/75R17s, but you *might* be able to fit them without lift, mud flaps will have to go if they are not already gone though.

Got it. Mud flaps are long gone. I mean the worst that happens is I rub for a couple of months at full lock while I save for a lift, right?

The lift prevents rubs only when you’re not compressing the suspension. The range of motion is the same with or without the lift.

Partially true, if the lift is done correctly then the bumpstops will be spaced lower to limit uptravel to prevent this and damage to the shocks from them being extended outside of their range of travel.

That’s true for spacer lifts. A coil over lift holds the truck up higher from stronger springs or greater preload on the springs. The suspension still moves through the original range of motion.

Roger that. I’m pretty sure the 255/75/17 should fit with minimal rubbing, at least until I can get a lift/possible chop done. Don’t really do a lot of stuff often enough that would fully compress the suspension so I’m not terribly worried for now.
That being said, if anyone has some horror stories please share them!
