Did you consider just trading in for a six instead? May be a better option.

I've considered URD. I'd like to make my $18k base model 2.7 perform better than a $40k v6. I'm considering 4.88 gears, lighter wheels, & LC Engineering Headers to start. Then the power adder to add the fun.

So dropping 10k into an engine to perform like a stock V6. To each their own. (most people also don't spend 40k on a new Tacoma)

I hear you. I guess I'm looking from feedback from anyone that's actually done it, so I could hear about their experience and how it made the truck respond.

More expensive and more problems than getting a V6 instead. Own what you have or swap it

I would do a turbo personally on a 4 banger. Probably around the same price as well.

For the price, though, people are not wrong that it would probably cost the same to just get a V6. I got my sport for $31k OTD. Deals can be found

At 150hp stock, whats that get you, 30% for what $5k? I'd do it just to pop the hood at cars and coffee.

Anything's possible. I believe anything good can be made better. Hope to hear from supercharged 2.7L guys. Thanks for the feedback.

i don’t know why everyone is hating. Forced induction regardless of motor is awesome. Completely different powerband and feel and definitely more smiles per gallon than a NA v6. Not like the v6 is without it’s problems anyway. On the bright side the 2tr can handle it. Solid motor. If you go with it maybe consider the head stud kit from apr.

I’m in agreement with @Sep1911 — I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the idea of supercharging your 2.7l, and if there was, well, it wouldn’t be my business anyway.

The 2.7l is internally strong, maintenance friendly, and long lived. The kit from URD is the one to get. Plenty of dudes have done it. My 2.7l has 282,000 miles on it and I still may supercharge.

The 4 Banger section on TW is a good resource for furthering your research on the subject.

Why not wait to see what the new boosted Tacoma is going to look like?

Rumor has it the Tacoma is going to a boosted 4 banger - possibly a boosted 2TR. Tundra is supposedly going to be a boosted V6.

    I wouldn't brag about beating a 2 valve 4.6 :anonymous:

It's not hating it's being realistic. You won't get your money back supercharging like you will on the V6. I get people like to mod things and that's fine. OP do what makes you happy but sometimes you're better off buying the performance from the factory than adding it later.

At the end of the day a car isn’t really an asset, and if you consider the money lost selling a 4 cylinder and the finance on a v6 it could financially make sense to boost vs getting a v6. But you’re right, different strokes for different folks. Personally it doesn’t matter if I had a 2 cylinder or a v12. I’d want to fuck with the motor and put boost on it

I get wanting to add boost... this is my fun car. I just don't see it here but that doesn't mean OP shouldn't do it.
