Speaking of Noctua, I removed the NH-D15 from my case. Looks massive outside of the case.

Because it is massive. I remember when people would have to wait for board reviews to make sure the board could hold the weight of the most massive tower coolers.

The rumor is this time nVidia won't drop the 3080Ti on launch day. Instead we will see the 3070 and 3080, then a 3 month pause before a 3080Ti is dropped. Given memory costs there is also a good chance that we don't see the 20 or 24 GB cards some were speculating. It's very likely we will see mostly 1-2 GB memory increases per price level at best.

What I hate is the new "Super" level, because you know it's just going to let nVidia go to a three or four year launch cycle with a tick-tock (normal than super) release cycle.

I think they did the same thing with the 1080Ti, waited a while after the 1070 and 1080 were launched.

I’ll be interested to see what AMD bring to the table as well. Just ordered the Arctic P12 pwm 5-pack to replace the cheapo rgb fans that came with my case. They seem to perform very well for the price from all the tests and reviews I’ve found.

Yeah, it was only the 20 series that dropped the 2080Ti on launch day.

Yeah, it's interesting that we are within a month of their supposed announcement date and really we know nothing about RDNA 2.

Ok, so, long shot but I’ll ask anyway. Been awhile since I posted about having issues with my pc. Since then, I’ve RMA’d multiple items. Corsair sent me new 3200 rgb ram and mp510 m.2 so those have been ruled out. I’ve rma’d my MSI z270 sli plus mobo. Sent it to them, they had it for 2 weeks and sent it back, but didn’t replace it because I’m guessing it was working but they didn’t tell me anything in the notes or the online rma tracker. When I pulled the 7700k, no pins were bent so no issues I could see there. Swapped out the psu from my g2 750 EVGA to a g5 650 EVGA for testing and there was no difference so it isn’t the psu either. The only thing I haven’t tested is the 750ti I’m running but it seems to be a software issue now. Before I was getting BSOD way to often, multiple different errors, etc. Had an it friend help look over software, I was missing a few Windows drivers, fixed that. The computer seems to run fine in safe mode, no BSOD, so random restarts or freezes, but the second it gets to the main windows screen after it’s logged in, it simply crashes and restarts or freezes, but BSOD’s are gone for now. We’ve tried to do fresh install of windows and it will get to about 75% and the installer will crash. We’ve tried EVERYTHING at this point and it’s still not working. Any ideas?

If you've ruled out the memory, install drive, PSU and mainboard the only thing left is a bad CPU. It's not unheard of for the memory controller to go haywire and cause this sort of issue. A bad graphics card wouldn't cause Windows install to fail. Can you get ahold of a Kaby Lake Pentium/i3/i5 locally for cheap? If you can I'd grab it just to diagnose the issue with.

Another thought, check that you MB Bios is up to date. I know early Kabylake boards had some weird hangup issue that could cause system instability but it's a long shot that it's your problem.

If none of that works... the good news is that a Ryzen 3100 is basically an Intel 7700K in all but name and dirt cheap. You could grab one and a cheap B450 board and be done with this mess.

Yeah I’ll have to source a kaby lake to test that out but I also forgot Intel has the 3 year warranty so I’ll check tomorrow if my batch number once I find my original box to see if the batch number is ok for an RMA. I hear ya about the ryzen’s it’s tempting, but I’ve already spent so much time and energy, and money on trying to get this to work that I’m probably gonna stick it out for now, I just don’t want to spend the money if I don’t have to. BIOS was flashed to the newest bios directly off MSI’s website. My whole point of this build around that time was I got a sli ready board because I thought I would end up with twin 1080 or 1080ti’s but I only got to use the PC for maybe 8 months before it started faulting on me and it’s just taken me this long to actually do something about it. Sucks.

Meh, you saved yourself a pile of money then. SLI, for now, is a bling option. It doesn't work in enough games to matter. I ran dual 2080's for maybe three months before dumping them for a 2080Ti and I've never been happier than after doing that.

Pretty much either make your board a Zen3 only and brick support for older CPU's (for ever) with no support for future upgrades or keep support for older CPU's and dont get Zen3 support (and future options).

Nice of AMD to give the option to the consumer though.

From what it sounds like, this was the only option. TBF I believe AMD warned MB vendors to up the size of the BIOS memory right before the 400 series boards launched but many vendors took it as optional and did not implement any changes.

Anyone else here using a 60Hz monitor alongside their 144Hz monitor? I've noticed here lately that my GPU idles at around 1450Mhz whereas it used to idle around 300Mhz. If I disable either monitor the GPU returns to the normal idle speeds. Researching online it sounds like this is a known issue with Nvidia GPUs on 144Hz/60Hz combos but just wondering if any of you guys have any experience or notice the same thing.

Now I do have MSi Afterburner installed.
