I dont have Gaia, but I have been using Back country navigator for years. I have several add on databases for it. Including the FunTrex books, BLM/ National Forest boundaries. I wouldn't mind HEMA but support for Android sucks. I also plan routes on Google Earth and then export the .gpx track to my phone. For offline terrain overlays, it takes some playing around with Back Country Nav. If I have a big trip, its easier to save the database on the computer and do a full export.

If you want a challenge, do white rim in December/ January. The trail is Easy -->Difficult due to washouts. Coming down murphys hogback while it is covered in snow is pretty sketchy. Moab is awesome in the winter.

This sounds like a lot of work?

    Hadn't looked at this angle.

A lot of the state changes in the wet vs in the dry. There was a trail a few friends and I did that involved sliding down a hill in 5 inches of slick mud as you get more and more sideways. Not gonna lie, I was suckin seat cushion as I tried to ineffectively steer myself away from a massive body damage causing boulder.

Yeah, totally! I've been in a few similar scenarios. No likey. Predictability is good.

Agreed. That was a fun trip, but that muddy access road was miserable.

And then it snowed 4 inches:

20% chance of an 1/8 inch my ass!

I like snow, but that was bullshit. Trying to dry your tent out while living in an apartment complex sucks ass.

Dusting this topic off as my front brakes are due soon. 75K miles on mine, still have 3-4 mm left on pads. Mandatory rotor change? Everything looks good, not much wear/thickness change. No pulsing or noise when braking. Just swap pads or pads and rotors? Or get rotors machined, if so, where? Looking for recommendations.

I’m in the “if it ain’t broke (or overly worn) don’t fix it” camp. Sounds like you’ll get at least another set of pads through those calipers.

Thanks. Been searching around and everyone on the interwebz machines or replaces rotors with pads. Seems overkill compared to bikes and motorcycles that I’m used to. I’ll go with pads alone first.

I ended up taking mine to Mark Miller since I was getting squeaking and pulsing and needed pads. New pads and machined rotors was about $200 installed.

If you don’t feel pulsating or shimmying while braking, your rotors are fine.

Yep it is. I honestly haven't found an 'all in one' app. Everything is tablet orientated these days. I am so used to using various pieces of GIS software.

The Lowrance GPS's that get used for offroad racing used to be decent, but they are so outdated. At least with those, you could easily upload tracks from google earth (.gpx)
