I could see that as a possibility. Do you know if there are any updated calibration docs for the 2020's as pin 12 in the ODB connector is no longer there? I found this out while trying to follow the trans temp /fluid level check.

I wonder if CC operates in any conjunction with the system that controls the clinometer screen and if so perhaps that's screwed up somehow where it "thinks" its fine

Dealer says they cannot do anything as it is working and not throwing any error codes.

Toyota Corporate called dealer and now I have to do a ride along with the dealership, but they are saying that may be the way it works now.

If someone else figures something out, let me know as it looks like we may be stuck.

Were they looking for stored DTCs?
A lot of the involved DTCs require being in "Test Mode" to be output; checking each of the following:
Acceleration sensor, master cylinder pressure sensor, speed sensor, 4wd detection, ABS, MTS switch, crawl switch, VSC switch and VSC sensor.

I also have a 2020 TRD Pro. I tried it on flat sandy ground and it worked flawlessly. The second I came to a hill it it just stopped and eventually turned off. I tried it multiple times on multiple different sandy hills and every time it would eventually just stop and sit there at idle. It was very disappointing, I hope there is a fix for this.

For those that it works, does your traction control light flash while using crawl control?

Tech said you just have to move steering wheel back and forth and give it a little gas.

Kind of defeats the purpose of crawl control.

My 2020 Off Road that was manufactured in Feb 2020 appears to be working great. Good luck to those that aren’t. I hope you can sort it out quickly.

Is it Toyota or the dealer saying this? I can see the dopes at the dealer saying it, but corporate saying it would be inexcusable. The fact that CC has worked just fine on every vehicle that has had it up until 2019, and then half or more of the 2020's (based on this thread) means something ain't right with those with no hill climbing ability with CC on. Feel free to send Toyota corporate to my house and I'll let them ride along with me, going up hill with CC on. This is my second vehicle with it (first being a 2017 T4R) and they both function exactly the same.

"Give it gas! :annoyed: That guy needs to read the Toyota promotional material before speaking and proving to the world he is an idiot!

I have a 2020 Access cab OR and tested out Crawl control last night on a gravel hill and everything seemed to work. Going to try and find a steeper hill though. Holy cow you guys weren't joking, the braking noise is a bit unnerving.

Yea, I am not giving up. I have owned a 2015 TRD Pro 4Runner, 2018 TRD Offroad, and 2019 TRD Pro, and everyone of them have operated fine. I wish one of you that has a 2020 lived nearby where we could go to the dealer so I can show them. I am just afraid that nothing is going to happen, but hey maybe they will get enough complaints and get something rolling. I highly recommend that if you are having the issue, please contact toyota and tell them you want to file a formal complaint.

Did you get any help from your dealer? Have you called Toyota and filed a complaint?

No, they just test drove it up a test incline and my dash cam captured it just stopping.

Update to my last post. I was on a fairly steep hill when I tested and it seemed to work fine. Well the next day I was in an area with steeper hills and it stopped on them and then deactivated Crawl Control. I then got "stuck" in some sand and tried Crawl Control and it didn't even move a tiny bit before deactivating itself. Luckily it wasn't very deep sand and I was able to get out with 4 Low and nothing else which means Crawl Control should have succeeded just fine.

I tried this out this weekend as well on a 2020 TRD OR. Crawl Control turned itself off going up a steep hill after ~20s.

Has anyone managed to get action from Toyota or a dealer on this?

I am going in this week for a ride along. Please call toyota corporate and file a formal complaint. I plan to file for VA lemon law if they do not agree to fix it after the ride along as that is my third time taking it in for the same isssue.
