anybody used Window World to have the windows in their house replaced?

before it gets said: no I'm not doing it myself and you won't talk me into it lol. ok, good.

we got a quote a couple months back from window world, and I have 21 windows total in my house...but with style change (2 vertical windows to 1 horizontal slider) it would reduce to 17. quote was like 7600$ I think? can look tonight.

I have old old windows from the 60s with the aluminum storm windows and such. Just wondering if there are any things you've all experienced with having your windows replaced you'd recommend to me. Thanks

Window replacements really are not very hard and you will probably do a better job than the normal installers when it comes to insulating around them. The company installers are interested in getting the job done within their allotted time.
One caution -- if using foam --make sure you use the "low expansion type -window and door" . The regular stuff WILL bow vinyl and aluminum windows out of shape and make them hard to open/close

guess you ignored the 2nd line?

I don't care to learn or DIY anything else with how many projects I already have, and we've had friends use Window World and the results were excellent.

    Thanks though

You are right -- missed that -- Sorry
You are smart to get input from others that have used a particular company.
I would ask if they use sealing of some kind around the window casing

Any recommendations on product to repair? Vinyl sliding window frame is separated at the mitered joint. Called my local glass place and asked if they do it, they said no, and it can’t be repaired.

Does that mean I have to replace the entire window, both the fixed and sliding panes? Can I buy a replacement sliding frame?

Can I just try to fix it with epoxy or similar product?

There are companies that repair the windows.

I saw that kit but not sure it’s applicable to my issue, though I’m out of my element here so maybe I’m mistaken.

I can remove the sliding window from the window frame. The frame of the sliding window itself is what is cracked at the joint where the frame pieces are glued together.

The window frame that’s nailed to the wall is ok.

I get what u saying lol
I would start by trying to find/contact manufacturer
The easiest but jankiest thing would be to get some corner mending braces and a bunch of silicone:

I would personally try to find a replacement sash but you’ll likely have to find manufacturer of window

I’m hoping someone here who knows more than me can help me out on this.

Half of my house is stucco siding. Today when cleaning up I noticed some rusty metal sticking out behind my gutter.

I guess there is a metal flashing that folds into the slab where the stucco ends and the slab starts. But that section has been rusted out due to the water coming off the drain and time. House was built in 1966 so I’m always fixing little stuff.

I tried to take a few pictures. It’s only an area like 1ft that is rusted out. The bad stuff if pic one. The good stuff is pic 3.

I think this is called stucco weep screed. Not sure.

Yes, weep screed. Allows air circulation and downward moisture migration from behind the stucco. I bet that splash block was not there until more recently. You may be able to cut a short section of new screed and jam it up behind (not in front of) the old piece. Check on the other side of that wall (slab? crawl?) to see if there is any moisture/discoloring/mold now. If not, you coudl let it go until its time for your next house painting and then repair it correctly at that time.

Thanks for the info. Glad I was on the right track. The house had water damage to bad drainage like 20 years ago apparently. But it wasn't major. They put pond rock all the way around the house to make sure that never happens again. I bought a moisture meter to check the moisture of the walls in the bedroom on the other side of this wall. Yeah. I wonder when the splash block was put in. I'm debating removing the splash block and just extending the gutter out further onto the rocks away from the house. The house is a slab so there is no way to get on the "other side" of it to see. I stuck my hand in there and it feels totally dry. I painted the house two years ago so I'd rather not do anything unless its necessary. Again, thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Cheers. Yes, gutter extensions highly recommended. In Socal, anything to dry out pretty readily as long as it has air exposure or is not on a coastal fogbank area.

I'm a mile from the beach but it's not foggy all the time. I'll report back with my moisture findings. But overall I'm getting the vibe its not really that big of a deal.
