Which Aftermarket CarPlay Radio did you go with?

Just got this installed the other day, damn fine unit so far, lots of options.

 

so the only difference in this and the DMX9707s is a hd screen?

 

Doesn't that one have dvd? Also I think the 957 has iphone wireless mirroring along with HD.

 

Looks cool.....I was too cheap to spend the dough lol

 

The floating kenwood 10" units should be coming out this summer too, I couldn't wait though. dmx1057xr looked extra spicy.

Just received a ddx9906xr. Pretty excited for Saturday morning to put it in the wife's truck.

 

Yep looks like the HD might be the only difference.

 

DMX907S - non HD screen, but does have wireless carplay/android auto
DMX957XR - adds HD screen, and tilt (woohoo)
DDX9907XR - adds CD/DVD
DNX997XR - adds Garmin Navigation

I don't think any of the Kenwoods do wireless Apple mirroring, only Android, but both do wireless android auto and wireless car play

Honestly, I was going to throw a DMX907 in my commuter, but I had to have the HD screen. Ended up doing a DNX9907 instead, pretty hyped about wireless carplay.

 

Thanks! Yeah i was unsure about the wireless mirror. was hoping it would work with apple but i read it may not. Makes me wonder if i should look for a diff model seeing it won’t work. I know one thing i DO WANT Is the capacitive screen..
Also what would be an reason a hd screen would be worth the extra $100 if say i couldn’t screen mirror with my iphone to view and content off it such as youtube videos and such like that.
It still would look fine if the screen wasn’t in HD would it not??? Just trying to see why one would want a HD screen if you aren’t really displaying anything other than maybe a backround image that is custom.

As long as it has a capacitive screen and has HD radio and sounds better than my 14 entune radio i have i will be happy. The wireless apple car play would be cool too.
i don’t really know if HD screen is deff something that is a need for me. was just trying to see if there would be a cheaper model kenwood i could go with seeing with the options i want. Deff would like a 2020 model if possible

i'm new to aftermarket radios.....do any of these decent CarPlay ones have a volume knob?

 

not many do. i know the Sony xav-Ax1000 does and so does the XAV-AX210SXM

 

The non HD screens look good, I mean way better than our factory units. But the HD screen is def a step up. If you are trying to save a buck, and don’t care about the mirroring, look at the 2019 models. You might be able to get a DMX906s or a DMX9906XR new for a few bucks cheaper. There isn’t much of a difference in the prior year, I think it’s mirroring and a the option for a fourth camera, and that’s about it.

 

yeah i saw that. i don’t need 4 camera options lmao. as long as i can use my back up which i have no idea how to wire up for my 2010 to work on the screen of an aftermarket unit. I have a 2014 entune unit in my 2010. and i got a harness off ebay which is same one from camera source so i can have the backup cam on the radio instead of the rearview. But have no idea how would wire up for an aftermarket unit.

and crutchfield doesn’t have the 906s. If the mirroring on the 907S won’t work whatsoevrr with my iphone there’s no point to get the unit that features mirroring.
Or can you mirror with a wired connection??

 

all of these kenwoods look the same but are all different lmao there are so many different models my head hurts.

i just want hd radio and wireless carplay. if i can screen mirror sure but not a priority
and i want capacitive screen for sure
