I use the retail discounts quite often but when it comes to the free meals at the restaurants, I just can't do it. I'll take a discount but I won't show up at a restaurant just for a free meal.

I appreciate their offer and I know it's just me but it makes me feel like I'm begging for food.

Our local-ish Home Depot doesn't normally provide the military discount. O'Fallon Illinois off of Illinois HWY 50, which is the store closest to Scott AFB.

... ^^^ ... that really surprises me ... as I have always gotten the 10% off at every Lowes & HD in the Atlanta area ...
..... Home Depot's headquarters is in Atlanta too.

The max sale is $2,500.00 with $250.00 (10%) off .... then (over $2.500.00) you have to do a "contractor bid" which is 10% off or better (depending on the items).

Unfortunately I have found that many of the businesses on the list where I live do NOT offer the discounts. Since I am in a small Army town in southern Arizona they say they would have to offer the discount to pretty much everybody, so they don't do it. It's kind of sad.

I wasn't too sure about doing the free meal thing but last night the two other Vets in my class asked if I wanted to go by Applebees. I agreed and I'm glad I did.

Applebees made us feel very welcome and at no time did I feel like I was free loading. Not only did we get a steak dinner but two girls in Coors shirts asked if we wanted a Coors Light t-shirt and a beer. The shirt was nice and the beer was cold.

I'd just like to thank Applebees and Coors Light for a very enjoyable evening.
